Hi Srini :

You write :

( " SabdajaalaM mahaaraNyaM " says Shankara. Rough translation is that

web of words is like a daunting forest.)

Thanks for reminding all of us re : " Shabdajaalam omaharanyam " -

this phrase actually occurs in the following verse in Viveka

Chudamani !

HERE IS THE ENTIRE VERSE for your reading pleasure

" Sabba-jaalam Mahaaranyam, Chitta Bhramana Kaarakam, Atah prayatnaa -

gjnatavyam, Tattvagjnaa - ttattva maatmanaha. "

" My dear seeker, " warns Sankara, " words are hypnosis. Words are a

dense forest. Try entering them without adequate preparation

and you are sure to lose your way and sanity. If you

are serious about learning, do not get lost but seek

the guidance of a teacher who is 'aware'. "

WE SHOULD NEVER GET CAUGHT UP IN THE WEB OF WORDS !

Thank you Srini for penning such a beautiful poem !

Yes - there is an English expression which goes - 'cannot see the

wood for trees' ? the american version is can't see the forest for

the trees ? The meaning is we should not focus on trivial aspects of

an issue but instead focus on the big picture ! sometimes , we all

get caught up in the 'shabda' jaalam and indulge in vitanda vaadam

or tarka or kutarka ... instead we should engage in meaningfyul

dialogues ( samvaadam ) not vaakvaadam! Smile! The thread 'personal

confession ' by sri anandaji generated almost Nine posts ....

Wow! 'personal confession' lead to so many public revelations!

Smile .... We all got so caught up in this web.... now , time to

move on .......

with love and regards
