Guest guest
Namaste, all I have read the following in one of the posts and I may kindly be permitted to mention my thoughts : >>The united one (the well poised or the harmonized), having abandoned the fruit of action, attains to the eternal peace; the non-united only (the unsteady or the unbalanced), impelled by desire and attached to the fruit, is bound.<< If abandoning of fruits of action was one’s goal, why one should act at all? Yes, one may say, action must be performed according to one’s dharma wherever required. However, in that case also, one performs action not for abandoning the fruits of action. What is to be abandoned is one’s notion that the fruits action will bring him *that* happiness which he has been seeking all through. Any happiness that comes from the fruits of action is temporary, as we all know, but one seeks permanent happiness, which he is seeking, from the fruits of his actions. What one has to abandon, is this notion. All actions are for results and the results are useful as they serve some purpose. I look forward to the views of our learned members Warm regards, R. S. Guest guest
Namaste Maniji. You are right. 'Abandoing the furits of action' is just literal. The logical implication is the performance of non-binding legitimate dhArmic actions and acceptance of the fruits thereof with prasAda buddhi. Thus, there is no sense of agency in action and the Lord is understood as the bestower of results. A person of such understanding is bound neither to his actions nor the results thereof although he continues to act. He is verily Lord's own instrument resting happily on the Lotus Feet. PraNAms.
