Is it simply " Gods Will " ? The posts in this thread are explaining to beginners like me the existence and nature of avidya. As per vedanta we have cycles with pralaya in between. pralaya or folding of manifestation has no avidya(am I right?). But when the cycle of manifestation starts which is avidya itself. So the obvious question is why are there these cycles? Thank you very much Sudesh. Namaste Sudesh, There are supposedly two types of pralaya; pralaya and mahapralaya. In pralaya the material and some subtle are subsumed and in Mahapralaya even the subtle is subsumed. Obviously in the pralaya Brahman has attributes that still exist in subtle form, the material being in potential. In Mahapralaya even the subtle is subsumed and is also in potentiality. Otherwise it would not be said that the Jiva takes form again in a new universe. There is no beginning to all this, Avidya/Maya but there is an end in Realisation.. So there is always a creator, even in potentiality, until the illusion is lifted. All knowledge can only be Avidya or Nescience, for it is of the mind, and is dropped with the mind. At this point there is no God's Will for that is mind as well...Hu. If you read the poem by S-Maharaj it explains it all succintly. Be a better Heartthrob.
