Guest guest
The only one qualified to be a teacher is a > Jivanmukta, or a Jagadguru... Who declares that a man is a Jivanmukta or Jagadguru? Is it by reputation, by committee, by intuition on the part of a student? When a Jivanmukta or Jgadguru goes into a shop to buy bread, then he is a customer. To his wife, he is a husband, to a niece, he is an uncle, to an apartment owner, he is a tennant. So these are but roles just as is the role of teacher to a student. It's difficult to get away from the pure subjectivity in the relationship between student and teacher. If a man is known as Jivanmukta and is not, and a student thinks he is Jivanmukta, then for all practical purposes he IS Jivanmukta, in the eyes of the student. Who can say differently?? If a friend of the student says " He is not Jivanmukta " yet the student believes he is then...?? Both roles are in the perception of those involved. This is no different than arguments about " the one true religion " . There is no outside agency that can come into the midst of those arguing and say " Well, we, the outside agency, from beyond time and space declare that X is the one true religion and the others are not! " If a person is believed to be Juvankukta by some people then to them he is--if not, then not. We cannot stand outside these things for any objective judgement. The moment we get into these webs of cognizing, then maybe it's time for a laugh and then get back to questioning " Who am I? " Who gets these thoughts " " Who is it that enjoys sticking to the web of cognition? " " Who is it that loves samsara? " Ha! Again, I love the joke at the heart of all this...best wishes, Steve. ______________________________\ ____ Get the free toolbar and rest assured with the added security of spyware protection. http://new.toolbar./toolbar/features/norton/index.php
