Guest guest
I think the time has come to draw this discussion to a close. It is, after all, not particularly relevant to the aims of the group. Also, since the group exists to discuss the philosophy of advaita according to Shankara, it is scarcely reasonable to question whether or not he actually existed. Based upon previous experience, some members are likely to be seriously affronted by such a suggestion. Accordingly, would members please not discuss this topic further. Best wishes, Dennis (with Chief Moderator hat) advaitin [advaitin ] On Behalf Of Hupa Ram-Das 11 June 2007 19:27 advaitin Hinduism vege etc .. <http://geo./serv?s=97359714/grpId=15939/grpspId=1705075991/msgId=3 6263/stime=1181586419/nc1=4507179/nc2=3848584/nc3=3848571> In the first place I'm not sure we have all the teachings of Sankara proved. Much of what he said has probably been expurgated by the followers of caste and rite etc. If he was superstitious, and I was giving the benefit of the doubt, then he wasn't who people said he was. He may be just another myth, we aren't not even sure when he was born.
