Guest guest
Sastry-ji: i apologize to you for not getting back to you earlier on this ... i was very busy sight-seeing with my grandkids who are visiting me from Florida ... here is an introductory link http://www.periplusbooks.com/india_texts/yaksha/yp06.html in this link , Sri Srinivasan only lists the top 25 questions but as you know there are in all one hundred questions in this encounter between Yaksha and Yuddhistra ... i think it will be a good idea for you to buy the book by Sri Srinivasan - it will be an asset to any Home library and a good primer on Hindusim for our kids ! smile :-) our beloved Sunderji may be able to direct you to another web site ( may be Sanskrit documents ? ) He is our best 'resource' ! it is such a coincidence that you should talk about Yakshsa Prashna when we are discussing about Hinduism and Vegetarianism ... in fact one of the questions asked is what is greatest sin for a brahmin or something to that effect ... the answer was 'to kill a cow' - i think this is in Yaksha Prashna ! which brings up an important point - the cow - this bovine creature is so divine that Sri Krishna , the Cowherd , says in the Srimad Bhagwat Gita dhenunam asmi kamadhuk " Among cows I am the wish fulfilling cow. " YES! HINDUS DO NOT EAT 'BEEF' and regard the Cow as sacred and call it 'GOW MATA' FOR LIKE our mother , she gives us 'nurturing' and nourishing milk ! but , how do hindus treat their cows , the most sacred of all animals ! one look at these cows roaming in the streets of India will tell you the real story ! - they are treated so badly by their owners - undernourished ! But in U.S.A , the americans eat beef but they give their cows royal treatment - THESE COWS INU.S COW FARMS ARE WELL CARED FOR BEFORE THEY ARE SLAUGHTERED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION - OUR COWS IN INDIA ARE SUBJECTED TO LIVING DEATH! these are some of the issues which need to be addressed by all right thinking Hindus! on another note , the brahmins are called Gow brahmanas which alsdo means that brahmins and cows are sacred ! how far this is true in modern times ? our Hupa-ji is amazing - he says that Sufis eat meat - may be , some do ! but sufis also eat 'Chick Peas' and Pomegranates: which have a lot of sinificance as metaphors in spirituality! anyway , our rishiji is even more amazing than hupaji ! from killing of animals we digreesed into totally another explosive territory - the varna ashrama ! anyway , hats off to our dennis-ji (the one with the chief moderator hat)for his timely intervention .... lot of Himsa was avoided - causing emotional pain to members! Vegetarianism is a way of life, not just eating fruits and vegetables on the Dinner Table ! As my facvorite author George Bernard shaw says " A man of my spiritual intensity does not eat corpses. " love and regards

Pomegranate has also been reported to contain Estrodiol. Both these will diminish " kaama " in general. Increasing levels of estrogenic activity is important for hot flashes in postmenopausal women. This is especially important for maintenance of prostate health as well. Pomegranate also contain Ellagic acid which exhibits anti-cancer properties. At present there are number of studies in progress to evaluate and confirm theses medicinal properties. That means that " Sufi " practitioners must have understood the real spirituality of these wonderful nutrients, because they used it rather than discussing it for their academic value. > > Vegetarianism is a way of, not just eating fruits and > vegetables on the Dinner Table ! > Some clinical studies clearly suggest that the benefits derived from specific phyto-nutrients is significantly higher when compared it to the isolated nutrients from the the same fruits and Vegetables.
