Guest guest
I'm re landscaping the front yard of this house, watching as I do it, looking for conceptualization emerging, looking for attachment. All was well during the ground preparation, laying the landscape fabric, moving five yards of mulch from where it had been delivered. All that took weeks. Then... the planting! Four plants in the ground today and thoughts, concepts such as did I do it right? are they deep enough? did I apply enough root stimulator? will I over water or underwater? images of wilted, dead plants because of " mistakes " on my part...hmmm...sounds like attachment to the fruit/result of action to me...it was too late to stop those thoughts, those images, concepts. That would have been like closing the gate after the tiger was out of the cage...so...just watch those thoughts, just watch, let the gardening armageddon play out without trying to modify, justify or in anyway interfere with the rising thoughts/concepts/images...Advaita, non-duality, inner work has to be immanently practical, whether I understand it at every moment, or not. Whether I'm absolutely " there " or not, current, partial understanding has to be applied in " the world " , in the garden. Best wishes, Steve.
