Guest guest
H.N.Sreenivasa Murthy Pranams to all. Dear Readers, I am grateful to the members who responded to the question " Who is the perceiver of waking and dream states? " . My heartfelt thanks to Sri Sadananda for his brilliant explanation. I will be responding to the replies after a thorough and complete study of the replies to the question. Meanwhile please permit me to quote two mantras fromBruhadaranyaka Upanishad and one manthra from Kathopanishad which have a bearing upon the question: [a-1] nAnyadatO^sti draShTRu nanyadatO^sti SeOtRu nAnyadatO^sti mantRu nAnyadatO^sti vij~JatRu || Bru.Upa. 3-8-11 There is no other seer but This, there is no other hearer but This, there is no other thinker but This, there is no other knower but This. [a-2] nAnyO^tO^sti draShTA nAnyO^tO^sti SrOtA nAnyO^tO^sti mantA nAnyO^tO^sti vij~JatA Esha ta AtmA antaryAmI amRutaH || Bru. Upa. 3-7-23 There is no other seer than He, there is no other hearer than He, there is no other thinker than He, there is no other knower than He. He is your Self, the Inner Controller, the Immortal. [a-3] svapnAntaM jAgaritAntaM ca uBau yEnAnupaSyati | mahAntaM viBumAtmAnaM matvA dhIrO na SOcati || Katha Upanishad 2-1-4 It is through Atman that one perceives all objects in dream or in the waking state. Having realised the vast, all—pervading Atman, the calm soul does not grieve. The English translations of the manthras are by Swami Nikhilananda. Another translation for the Katha Mantra 2-1-4: " That Pure Consciousness by being which one witnesses waking and dream states, that is the great, the all-pervasive. Knowing that to be his own Self, a wise man never grieves. " I request the learned members who have responded to the question and also other readers to evaluate their answers in the light of the above quoted mantras and give their understandings as they are needed by me for a deeper understanding of that VERY VITAL question . I will be greatly indebted for this great help. With warm and respectful regards, Sreenivasa Murthy Why delete messages? Unlimited storage is just a click away. Kind Regards, Marc * at least....during deep sleep.... this appearing " you " and " me " ....dissolve into one Self.... means....then there is neither seer, seen nor seeing....anymore > > > > Why delete messages?
