Guest guest
Thank you Sri Harsha-ji for posting this link ! If it is anything to do with Sri Ramana bhagwan, you have my immediate undivided attention ? May i be allowed to make a few comments on this wonderful Satsangh with Robert Adams by Kheyala ? In fact , nothing that Kheyala has written about Robert Adams surprises me specially the way he interacted with like minded Ramana devotees ! but what i really resonated with were these words at the end of that article " The sweet, natural happiness that I experienced in his presence was so very thick and blatant. All the ideas I had picked up about what it is to be in the presence of Truth were permanently cracked. The mind just couldn't get around the chasm between what it thought holiness was supposed to be like and what it had actually met that day with Robert Adams. In its attempt to cross that chasm, it had fallen into it, giving rise to an absolutely undeniable experience of joyfulness and peace. " This is exactly what would expect from a true devotee of Sri Ramana Maharishi. High thinking and taking delight in enjoying the simple pleasures of life like listening to music, enjoying some restaurant food and even sipping a Margerita ! Well , as long as you know your 'true nature' what difference these external acts make ? It semms to me , Robert Adams at this point in his life was fully aware of his true nature and his ego totally 'effaced' ! Obviously , Robert Adams 'silence' spoke eloquently of his wisdom and enlightenment and words were no longer necessary to convey the Peace and Tranquility that satsanghis felt in his presence. May i now recall these words from my Friend Lakshmi muthu's post on Sri Ramana bhagwan ? " There are many episodes and incidents that have been narrated by my uncles and by my father too about the time thay had spent with Bhagavan. Coming to the point, none of them seem to have anything to say about the teachings of Ramana. But they had imbibed it in their lives. All of them were very quiet basically, simple life style, no extravaganza or pompousity in their lifestyle. Not emotional at all. Very composed. No nonsense. No loose conversations. No importance for rituals. They all did go to temples only as a something they needed to do. None of them studied vedanta or the scriptures. They had learnt samskritam as second language. Everything was simple about them, though thay all had moved away from Thiruvannamalai and living in cities. One common factor was they loved eating good food. *We enjoy food because Bhagavn also enjoyed eating good food.* ( post number 32372 in advaitin list) Yes! HOW LAUDABLE , IS IT NOT ? Very heartening to see Lakshmi's father ,. grandparents , uncles etc learning Sri Ramana's teachings without too much 'talk' and without intense study of Vedas and other scriptures - leading a life odf simplicity but at the sametime contemplating on the true nature of who they really are ! Btw , did you know what Gandhiji said about the 'spinning' wheel , the Charka ? " The turning of the charkha in a lifeless way will be like the turning of the beads of the rosary with a wandering mind turned away from God. " For Gandhiji , spinning the 'charka' was itself like Meditation! For great saints , every act they perform is an act of meditation - eating , socializing etc ..... Harshaji , have you read the following story ? A philosopher asked Buddha: " Without words, without silence, will you tell me the truth? " The Buddha sat quietly. The philosopher then bowed and thanked the Buddha, saying, " With your loving kindness I have cleared away my delusions and entered the true path. " After the philosopher had gone, Ananda asked Buddha what the philosopher had attained. The Buddha commented, " A good horse runs even at the shadow of the whip. " Thanx once again Harshaji for sharing your blog wisdom with all of us ! love and regards advaitin , Harsha wrote: > > Dear Friends, > > Many of you have heard of Robert Adams who was a great devotee of > Bhagavan Sri Ramana.
