Guest guest
Now that Our most respected Shastryji has stepped in and has offered a 'scholarly' position on the subject on 'locus of Ignorance ' we wii all cease to be 'doers' and simply be 'enjoyers' of this interesting thread ! Sit back and enjoy and relax - no more hair -splitting arguments folks! However , i would just like to share my personal thoughts on 'Ishwera Kripa' Some six months ago, My daughter was in the Delivery room about to deliver her very first child. It was a long and laborious affair running into several hours. Naturally as the Mother , i was very anxious and nervous waiting in the Labor room , holding her hand , comforting her and easing the pain of contractions by asking her to take deep 'breaths'.Her Husband was equally 'supportive ' helping us by taking turns . When the actual delivery occurred. i decided to step out of the delivery room and wait in the reception area for i just could not bear the pain of my daughter's suffering . ! The baby came out after a 'vaccuum' procedure - and it was quite 'blue' all over ! at that moment , my only thoughts were not about the baby whether it was a boy or a girl, whether it was fair or dark, whether it resembled our family or the husband's family but my only concern was *was the baby 'breathing' ?* Yes! The obstetrician beat the baby black and blue till it started breathing and crying out aloud! Wow ! What a relief - that cry was music to our ears ! Yes ! She is a live born baby and she is breathing ( first , birth and then breath) - AND FOLKS , this 'breath' that we inhale and exhale is due to 'Ishwera' anugraham and believe me Ishwera is the very breath we take ! How can we even doubt this ? There is only one purpose for this human life - to glorify this human birth by glorifying God/ess by singing his/her praises! He is the Puroshattaman ! Verse 17 of chapter 15 in Srimad Bhagwad gita goes like this uttamah purusas tv anyah paramatmety udahrtah yo loka-trayam avisya bibharty avyaya isvarah Besides these two,( the kshara and akshara purushas - the fallible and infallible - verse 16) there is the greatest living personality, the Lord Himself, who has entered into these worlds and is maintaining them. Chinmayanandaji beautifully explains it in the following words : " When the perishable (Kshara) is transcended, what remains is not Imperishable (Akshara) but that which played as the 'Perishable- Purusha' as well as the 'Imperishable-Purusha.' This Pure Spirit (Purusha) is spoken of as the Supreme Self, who 'PERVADES AND SUSTAINS THE THREE WORLDS': " World " in Sanskrit means 'realm of experience.' The three realms of experiences in which we eke out our life's returns are the states of waking, dream, and deep-sleep. The same Self is the illuminator of the experiences in all the above three states-of- Consciousness " BHAKTA KABIR SINGS THUS " Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat. My shoulder is against yours. You will not find me in the stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms, nor synagogues, nor in cathedrals: not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding around your own neck, nor in eating nothing but vegetables, When you really look for me, you will see me instantly — you will find me in the tiniest house of time. Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God? He is the breath inside the breath. " VINAYAKAJI , Let me share something with you - did you know that Swami vivekananda sang the SIX STANZAS OF ADI SHANKARA BHAGVADAPADA'S NIRVANA to Sri Ramakrishna Paramahams just before his Mahasamadhi ! Thakore was so overwhelmed that 'tears' came into his eyes . ( THIS IS IN THE GOSPEL OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA ) Adi shankara bhagvadapada wrote this Atma shatakam after his own personal experience ... although we admiRte the shatakam for its beautiful 'poetry' it is the philosophy underlying the verses that is of lasting benefit to all spiritual SEEKERS ! ! The musk is in the deer why look for it in the forest ! Hari Aum tat sat !
