I thought what the moderattor says goes! Sri Ramji pleaded with us all

most humbly number in post number #37009 titled " Re Locus of

ignorance - Let us focus on contemplation instead of confrontation " =

his exact words were :

 

" Hopefully, we all will agree that Sankara's focus was more

on `eradicating ignorance' and consequently we should spend our time in

that direction. Sadaji has already stated why `contemplation' is a

better choice than `confrontation,' and let us move to another topic

instead of digging deep inside the black-hole. "

 

Since that Appeal by our owner moderator , the message board has

received all the following messages titled 'locus of Ignorance' -

messages 37012, 37018, 37020, 37021, 37022, 37023, 37024 ! Well,

certainly , the discussion is very interesting and absorbing and we

are learning a lot from these ongoing discussions on this 'forbidden'

totopic ! Smile :- )

 

Now , my question to moderators ! i was issued a Yellow card in msg

number36289 for " Re: Discussion on Varnaasrama dharma - Yellow Card

to the Poster " Here is what the message said

 

" An Important Announcement from the List Moderator:

The poster with the user name Dhyanasaraswati has been awarded with a

Yello Card for her post # 36286. Sadaji on behalf of all list

moderators have asked everyone refrain from the discussion of this

topic. This member habitually disobeys requests made to her both

through private emails and through the list. "

 

I am not suggesting for a momwent that all these respected members

who posted on 'locus of ignorance' should be awarded a 'yellow card'

for disregarding Ramji's appeal to stop the discussion from ths moment

on! Far from it! i am just wondering how far we can make 'exceptions'

to the list rules !

 

Now to my friend Baskaran 42- In your message number 37019 , you have

quoted Sri ramji's message number 1745 and also quoted from Sri

Parthasarathy's book! Baskaranji , you were the first one to agree

with Sadaji that we should *NOT' be quoting AND REPRODUCING these

quotes and only should provide links etc etc .... The point i am

trying to make is 'we all quote from time to time ' from the internet,

from the archived messages and even from the Swamiji's messages in our

own words!The recent message Shyamji posted on 'Mr.Pot' is based on a

similar story narrated by Swami Dayananda on his web site

version was of course very lively and interesting !

 

Can we avoid 'quoting' ? The point is 'rules' are there only as a

guideline not as a 'DETEERENT'

and i will certainly try to understand the position of 'ishwara' in

advaita !

 

PS - i penned this message after a great deal of deliberation to show

that while it is important to enforce 'discipline ' in a list like

this certain amount of 'latitude' and freedom should be allowed

otherwise this list will also become like other list where the

moderators only post to themselves! It will be so 'silent' we will be

like the 4 disciples sitting under the banyan tress in front of Sri

Dakshinamurthy!

Since DS has raised her doubts regarding the moderation policies by

the board, I am attempting here to clear her doubts. After

deliberation within the board, they have requested me to provide the

clarification since my name was referred by DS. In future if any

member wants clarifications/questions regarding moderation policies,

please send such requests directly to advaitins instead of

sending it to the list.

 

Regarding my post # 37009

(advaitin/message/37009), I made a

request to members to avoid unnecessary confrontations and judgments

on others' perceptions of Sankara's works. Consequently, the question

of awarding a yellow card didn't arise because there were no

violations.

 

In the message (advaitin/message/36283

Sadaji on behalf of all moderators specifically asks all members to

stop the discussions on Varnaasrama dharma. Members may recall that

the discussions went beyond the boundaries of the list scope and

policies and Sadaji and the board want to curtail the discussions

immediately. In spite of the appeal from Sadaji, DS in message #36286

expanded and extended the discussion. The list moderator was forced

to issue the yellow card to stop the discussions.

 

I request DS and the list members to read the following statement

from DS in her message # 36297: " I am guilty as charged! After all ,

Sadaji is a senior moderator of this list and someone whom I

personally admire and hold in high regard , I should have not

continued the discussion, But , guys , I am a rebel with(out) a

cause , I did violate the list policies ! I

apologize from the bottom of my heart! "

 

Honestly, I feel sorry to reopen the forgotten and forgiven incident

but it became necessary to explain to all concerned that the board

tries it level best to be impartial. Please note that the board is

obligated to keep the discussions within the list's scope. At times,

it is quite possible for me or other board members to commit an error

in our judgment. We want to you forgive us when we commit an

unintentional error of judgment. I and the board want to assure you

that the board always take necessary steps to correct decisions with

feedback received from members. Any comments/ clarifications sent to

the board by any member will certain to get due attention from the

board. Please make sure to send your feedback to advaitins.

Note: As a matter of fact, DS has sent 3 messages on the same day but

no action was taken since the board considered this as a less serious

Namaste Ramji and my fellow members!

 

One of the moderators had a 'bet' with me that i will break my vow

before the New Year ! He was indeed right ! Where i see

any 'inconsistency' or 'incongruity' in moderator's enforcement of

list policies , i will surely speak up in the 'larger' interests

of the entire group, specially members who are the more vulnerable

ones !

 

Ramji, , please please ! After i was awarded a yellow card for the

so calleed 'violation' , sri Ananta pai posted a message under the

same heading asking for some information on 'jaati 'in post number

36296 and our beloved Sadaji replied to the same this time changing

the heading to a sub heading 'jaati ' but still under the same

thread of Varnashrama dharma ! Should MY FRIEND Mr. Pai (who

incidentally appreciated my offending post by calling it 'nice' )

and Sri Sadaji who perpetuated the discussion be also awarded a

Yellow card ? How ridiculous this sounds , Ramji , pl think about

it ! We all sound like Tenaliramans !

 

Let me tell you , the apology was more my way of acknowledging the

beauty of Dennisji's Yellow card system ! That's all ! Don't read

too much into the apology ! If i had not apologized and dared to

question the decision of the moderator , before the blinking of my

eyes , i would have been awarded a second yellow card and barred

from posting for a year just like Tonji ! Why on earth would i Risk

that ? Smile:-)

This is what you wrote in post 37009 and it is there in black and

white and you cannot 'deny' what you wrote

You said clearly moving to 'ANOTHER' TOPIC ! now , ido not want to

sound like Portia of Merchant and venice !

 

Actually , i had no problem with members continuing the topic -

because We read some of the best posts on the subject - it did

eradicate a lot of 'ignorance' ! Special thanks to our most

respected Shastriji for his superb presenmtation and indepth

analysis of this subject .

 

Now coming to three posts per day - how many members are you going

to punish , ramji - let us be real ! are you going to punish the

following members along witn DS for the same lesser violation?

btw , my third post was a 'farewell' post - but now you made me

speak up !

 

putranji had three posts on Aug 25th on ishwara topic - posts

numbers 37035 , 37037 , 37043 and in his last post 37043 he was

going into a silent mode ! You should have been relieved i decided

to go into silent mode with my third post , too! Now , you made me

break my vow! and then my beloved friend RAMESH who rarely posts (

for months he has been silent ) dared to post 3 messages on Aug

26th - on Advaita and kashmir Saivism - 37045, 37048, 37050 ! These

are just two recent examples after Sadaji came up with the 2 posts

per day rule recently ! wHat i mean to EMPHASIZE Ramji - this

is 'spiritual list -----not a Military camp - there will always

be 'minor' violations like these and they should be overlooked !

So , you have really not done me any favor!

 

Shastriji is writing some wonderful posts - let us enjoy them !

PLease start your Gita Cyber Satsangh soon - i am looking forward to

learning from you as well !

 

Ramji - this is one of the beautiful lists in ! IF

MY 'SILENCE' MAKES IT EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL , LET IT BE! silence is

For questioning the authority of the moderators via a post to the

group instead of direct to the moderators as requested and for

effectively withdrawing her apology for a previous misdemeanour,

member Dhyanasaraswati is awarded a second yellow card.
