Dear Sirs,

Namaskaar

Thanks for your deep insights regarding Kashmir Saivism.I am really

indebted to all the experts who have so kindly responded to my queries.

I am a Muslim from India having a deep interest in Vedanta and

Sufism,a spritual dimension of my religion.Unfortunately,Sufism is

being neglected by the Muslim fundamentalists who are bent upon

proving it as a borrowed tradition. This is absolutely wrong because

the Sufis have themselves demonstrated that Sufism is strictly based

on the Koran and the Hadiths(shrutis).Fortunately,a great number of

Muslims still think Sufism to be an integral part of Islam. What

attracts me towards Advaita Vedanta is its remarkable similarity with

Sufism, though the differences of expression might be there.I hold

Sankara Bhagvatpada in very high esteem.I am deeply enamoured of his

work. Also,Bhagvan Maharshi is a great Sufi of modern times.

Namaste Sri Tariq:

I appreciate your observations regarding the similarity

between 'sulfism' and 'advaitam.' One of the remarkable similarity

between the two comes from the belief - 'the divine within one's heart

can only be recoginized with mind purification.' I believe that

vedantic philosophy contains the universal truth of Divine Presence

within and your remarks become very relevant in this context. For those

who want to know about 'Sulfism,' the information is available at

Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.com) and also at the International

Association of Sulfism:
