Namaste, All

IMHO the locus of both vidya and avidya is Awareness/Consciousness.

Namste Mani-Ji:

As I recall avidyaa is defined as " asataprakaashanashaktividyaa "

Thus the locus of vidyaa becomes the admission of ignorsance or lack

of knowledge. IMO - When we start using the terms

awareness/conciousness often things get lost in the gymnastic of

words.

Namaste dear Mani-ji and Dr. Yadu-ji.

Dr. Yaduji has a point there, Mani-ji.

If you meant awareness / consciousness in the absolute sense, then it

can't be an abode or locus for anything as there is then no plurality

conceivable with reference to awareness/consciousness.

We have been indulging too much in verbal gymnastics these days.

Otherwise, how can we explain the following situation?

" You are Brahman. You know that not. " declares Advaita. Your not

knowing that you are Brahman is your ignorance. You continue with

that ignorance in waking and dreaming and then into deep sleep from

which you again come out to dreaming/waking with that same ignorance.

Despite the facts being so clear, the questions bothering everyone is

if there was ignorance in that deep sleep and, if yes, where it was!

Whether it was parked outside in a dream car park or whether it was

carried into the no man's land of sleep, whether it existered there

in seed or flower form, whether it was in the right or left pocket

etc. To top it all, all these questions are asked from the ignorant

land of waking, viewed from which sleep is nothing but an " I didn't

know anything " sort of ignorance!

The debate continues as the quotes pour in. Ignorance remains.

Vedanta's clarion call is to remove the ignorance which everyone

admits there is. Bogged in debates, who has time to heed the call?

Intellectual gymnastics are more satisfying than removal of ignorance.

PraNAms.
