Guest guest
Wow ! Sreeni! Spoken like a True Vaishnava bhakta cum parama jnani! BRAVO ! Folks! Today it is my pleasure to recall the following story which i have stored in my archives . There is a small incident in the life of Bhakthin Meera which i would like to share with members here. There was a famous Vaishnava Saint named Jiva Gosain who was the head of all vaishnavites in Sri Brindavan Dhama. Bhaktin Meera wanted to visit this well known saint Jiva Gosain and approached him. But, Jiva Gosain , did not want to meet a woman and not only that he thought how can a woman have anything 'valuable' to say about Vaishnava philosophy? Therefore, he declined to meet Saint Meera and said he would not 'discourse' with a woman. This enraged Saint Meera who retorted 'Everybody in Brindavan is a woman. Only MY Giridhar Gopal is Purusha. Today only I have come to know that there is another Purusha besides Sri Krishna in Brindavan " . On hearing this , Jiva Gosain was embarassed . How could a saint of his calibre think of someone as a 'man' or a 'woman' ...He realized his mistake and decided to meet Meera, the very emodiment of Krishna- prema. Swami Vivekananda says In the golden words of Swami Vivekananda: " What love shakes the whole nature of man, what love runs through every atom of his being, makes him mad, makes him forget his own nature, transforms him, makes him a god as the love between man and woman? In this sweet representation of divine love God is our husband. We are all women; there are no men in this world; there is but One man - Hari and he is our beloved. All that love which man gives to a woman, or woman to man, is here given up to the Lord. " (http://www.exoticindiaart.com/article/bhakti ) futhermore , Here is a verse se From Srimad Bhagvad Gita svayam evatmanatmanam vettha tvam purushottama bhuta-bhavana bhutesa deva-deva jagat-pate (10:15) Verily, You Yourself know Yourself by Yourself, O PURUSHOTTAMA (Supreme PURUSHA) , O Source of beings, O Lord of beings, O God of gods, O Ruler of the world. Swami Chinamayananda further explains " In the Sankhyan philosophy, the Spark-of-Life in each individual is called the Purusha, in Whose presence, the matter-envelopments constituting Prakriti, become vitalised. Here Krishna is addressed as 'Purushottama' meaning " the Self of all selves, the One-without-a- second. " In the Geeta, the term Purushottama is sometimes used as the 'most glorious of men' and sometimes in the purely technical usage as the " Supreme Self. " Lord Krishna is now being recognised and glorified by Arjuna as the Pure Brahman, when he addresses Him as " THE SOURCE OF BEINGS, THE LORD OF BEINGS, THE DEVA OF DEVAS, AND THE RULER OF THE WORLD. " The essential stuff in any object is the ruler and maintainer of its qualities. The quality of gold rules over all the qualities of various gold ornaments whatever their shape, design, polish, etc. More than this is the controlling and the ruling power of the Consciousness in our lives, inasmuch as, without Consciousness, we know nothing, can do nothing. An awareness or knowledge of a thing or an event is possible only when the mental and intellectual disturbances caused by it are illumined by the Pure Consciousness.
