Dear Mani-ji,

I fear you are deluding yourself (assuming you are not being falsely

modest!) The Sanskrit may be 'simple' but certainly, at least in so far as I

would understand 'a little knowledge', it is not possible to understand what

is being conveyed. If you want a majority of readers to understand what you

are communicating (and that is certainly the intention on this group), you

*must* provide a translation.

Best wishes,

Dennis

ADVAITA TEACHING - A GIST

ADVAITA TEACHING - A GIST

Namaste, all

Ignorance and ignorance-resulted knowledge and its removal through examples

etc:

Adhyaaropa apavaadaabhyaam nishprapancham prapanchyate ithi buddha vachanam.

Adhyaaropo naama vasthuni avasthu aarop:

Vasthu satchitaanandaathmakam brahma

Avasthu agjnaanam tad janya mahaaprapancha:

Bhrama Panchakam:

Jeeva: parameshwaraath bhinna:

Aathmani pratheeyamaanam karthuthwaadi vaasthavam.

Shareerathraya aatma sangi.

Jagathkaaranathwena brahmano vikarithwam.

Kaaranaath bhinnasya prapanchsya sathyathwam

Ithi panchabhramaa:

Nivarthaka drushtaantha panchakam:

Bimba prathibimba drushtaanthena bhedabhrama: nivarthaneeya:

Sphatika lohithadrushtaanthena paaramaarthika bhramao nivarthaneeya:

Ghataakaasha madtaakaasha drushtaanthena sangithwabhramo nivarthaneeya:

Swarnakatakaadi lohithakhadgaadi drushtaanthena kaaranaathbhinnathwena

pratheeyamaana prapanchasya sathyathwabhramo nivarthaneeya:

Ithi prapanchabhrama nivarthakadrushtaanthapanchakam

Drushtaanthapanchakam:

Brahmajagathbhraanthyaa pratetheeyathe ithyathra shukto rajatham, rajjou

sarpa:, sthanou purusha: gagane neelapeethaadi, maroomareechikaayaam

jalamithi

drushtaantha panchakam.

The above gives in general a gist of the teaching prakriya followed.

These slokas are quoted from Vedaantha samjna prakaranam.

The transliteration may not be correct, but the language is very simple as

anyone with a little knowledge of Sanskrit can understand what is conveyed.

Warm regards

Mani

A smacked wrist for me for neglecting to delete irrelevant parts of the

message to which I was responding! It is easy to do and requires constant

vigilance by everyone.

Thank you Dennisji.

Namaste

Yes, I should have provided a translation. In fact, I should have requested

one of our learned members to kindly traslate as I am not competent to do that,

(with my very poor communication ability in English and equally in Sanskrit). It

was indeed a lapse on my part to make such a request to the group.

If someone could do it, it would be helpful.

With warm regards

Mani

This transliteration (needs to be proof-read with the original

printed version) may be helpful in providing the translation.

Namaste Dennisji and beloved Advaitins :

I had to come out of intense meditation on Devi durga to solve the

few pieces of the puzzle here !

Dennisji , if i remember correctly , did you not tell us you are

enjoying the Mandukya upanishad Audio tapes by Swami

Paramarthanandaji ?

now , read this , dennisji ! Does this not ring a bell ?

*ghaTAkAsha\-maThAkAsha* dRRiShTAntena sa~Ngitvabhramo nivartanIyaH .

Professorji also mentioned this term 'ghatakasha/mathakasha' in post

number 33905 .... please read , the meaning will be clear !

and read post number 31604 and the thread on Adhyaropa – Apavaada or

the Method of Deliberate Superimposition and Negation for the

meaning of the first verse !

in a hurry ,

yours in Devi ! .
