Guest guest
Dear Dennis-ji, I knew that what I was writing was already known to you, but I wrote it more for the information of beginners in the group. I did not say that you as brahman having attained enlightenment could sit back and watch others suffering. After enlightenment " you as brahman " are no longer there. There is only brahman which is the same as it is now. Your getting enlightenment does not make any change in brahman. The same brahman which, as God, is watching all suffering now, will continue to watch it. Your getting enlightenment will not make any difference in this matter. Your statement " the real 'I' will continue to appear as deluded jIva-s " is puzzling. It is the subtle bodies which are already here is some gross bodies that will be born again in some other bodies and not 'the real I' which is brahman and has no birth or death. As I understand, your worry is that even after you get liberation, there will be millions suffering in this world. That will certainly be so until the whole world gets liberated. Even now brahman is there watching all the suffering. When you get liberated you will not be 'Dennis as brahman', but brahman alone will be there as it is there now and brahman will continue to watch people suffering as it is doing now. It is the subtle bodies that are already here in some body that will be born again in some other body. The real 'I', brahman is not what is born. Your statement that the real 'I' will continue to be born is therefore not dorrect. Of course you may feel that it is no use getting liberation for yourself when millions continue to suffer. Is there any solution for this? Will this problem be solved by you or I or anybody else giving up striving for liberation? (I am sorry that there is some repetition in this because I composed this in two instalments. Please excuse this). I still do not know whether I have correctly understood your question. S.N.Sastri The explanation you have given (in accordance with most of the 'interim' teaching) somehow suggests that 'I' as Dennis, having attained enlightenment, somehow sit back for the rest of time watching other poor fools struggling to attain it. But 'I' as Dennis will be no more and 'I' as brahman am what I always was and will be, namely the non-dual reality. Therefore the question remains: is there any benefit in attaining enlightenment other than for that jIva for the rest of its embodiment? Best wishes, Dennis
