Guest guest
Dear Shri Ram Chandran, You have said:-- " Honestly speaking, one can be a Hindu and can deny reincarnation and religious belief is nothing to do one's acceptance or denial of reincarnation " If you are referring to a person who, though born a Hindu, does not accept Hinduism or the upanishads at all, what you say is correct. But if a person accepts Hinduism as his religion, then should he not accept the upanishads also?. The upanishads clearly speak of reincarnation repeatedly, e.g.: Katha, 2.2.7- 'yonimanye---', ch.up. 5.10.6, Gita, 5.41 and 6.42. There are many other places where it is said that a person is born again according to his karma or his conduct or his desires. So how can rebirth be denied? Of course this is all from the empirical standpoint. S.N.Sastri
Guest guest
Dear Sri Sastriji: Pranams, You are correct and my reference was with respect to those who just claim that they are Hindus but don't have strong convictions in what they believe. Thanks for bringing some important relevant points with respect to a Hindu with faith and conviction. With my warmest regards, Ram Chandran advaitin , " S.N. Guest guest
Namashkaar Moderators, I am student of vedanta and learn a lot of it by just reading the threads in advaitin list. I have a small request: can you please request members *not* to alter the subject line and post their messages in the same thread. That way the flow of continuity is not altered. Otherwise, someone has to find out what X has said in some other thread and then find out why Y is opposing it. I can understand if members want to create a new thread, but I donot know why they want to do that everytime they reply. (I am not taking any names here, as I think it inapproprite for me to do so.) Note from the List Moderator: This is an excellent suggestion and we request the members to keep the subject line unchanged. Make sure to include the brief identity of the post for which your reply corresponds to. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
