Guest guest
Dear Shri Devanathan, It is very nice to see your mail after such a long time. Please send me a private mail about your Ph.D. In which upanishad is the passage you have quoted? It does not seem to be in the principal upanishads. Best wishes, S.N.Sastri Shrthi clearly says, 'PrArabdha karma paryantam ahinirmokavad vyavahArati candravac carate dehi sa muktas cAniketaha' - 'as long as his previously commenced karma remains unspent he functions very mucch like a snake with the slough on. He who has attained liberation, though possessed of the body wanders homeless like a moon'. to me the very term Jivan mukti sounds like an oxymoron; the Jivatva persisting with the state of Mukti, just for the reason of prArabdha that persists. Having fullfilled all his duties 'krta krtyavAn' a Jivan muktah waits for the time that arrives when the body is shed. 'Jivanmuktva padam tyaktvA svadEha kAlasAtkrte' Antaryami
Guest guest
Shri Shri Shastri ji, I have been longing to talk to you about my Ph.D and stuffs. I will mail you in person in shortwhile. I am more happy to see you all here. Sampath ji and I are good friends.. ! and Vinayak ji too. I was inspired by them to join this group. I didnt know before much about this group. But now seeing you all.. I am blessed to be a member. I will certainly be active here. Thanks for your warm welcome Shastri ji. I Hope to shine well here under your grace and guidance. Now, regarding the PrArabdha for a jnAni, I have quoted the Paingala Upanishad which Bagavad pada frequently quotes in his PrasthAna Bashyas. The Upanishad is as consice compendium mainly on soteriology. A prime Upanishad (not major) that clearly mentions the term 'Jivan muktah' (though Bagavad pada never mentions it as such) and explains its nature. Very interesting Upanishad ! With Narayana Smrthi. Dear antaryAmi-ji, Can you tell me in which bhashya AchArya has quoted frequently from pingala upanishad? Kindly provide some references if time permits? Yours in Sri Ramakrishna, Br. Vinayaka. Guest guest
Hari Om Vinayak ji, I remember from Belvalker's note on Vedanta where he mentions that Paingala Upanishad is quoted by Acharya in his Brahma Sutra Bashya. Belvalker adds that there are 6 references for Paingala in Sutra bashya. As far as I browsed in Sutra Bashya, I could find no refernces all through the I adhyaya, except for reference from Paingi Brahmana (I.ii.12, pp125, Gambhirananda Trans). Plausibly we may find some references somewhere between the II-IV adhyayas. With Narayana Smrthi,
