Guest guest
Hi Iamone, One guy's opinion. It's a one-liner: The complete and total understanding that the perceiver cannot be perceived; whatever can be perceived cannot possibly be the same as the perceiver. All of the scriptures keep saying this one thing over and over in a multitude of ways. It lies behind everything else as a foundation...I also realize others may disagree!!!!!...one guy's opinion! ______________________________\ ____ Get easy, one-click access to your favorites. The word 'achievement' implies gaining what is not already the case. Or as Ramana Maharshi said, maybe not in these exact words, The Self does not need to be realized (made real). It is already real. You are already what you are. The mind is not capable of knowing the totality of what you are since the mind limits Reality to bite sized portions. The mind is a duality-making tool, therefore the answer is beyond the mind. A supposed separate individual seeking the oneness he/she already is, is quite a joke. And when you get the joke you will laugh.
Guest guest
Namaste Sri Ayamwan: First, welcome to the list and we look forward to your active participation with insightful questions and comments. If you are looking for a step by step procedure for self-realization, your first step should be read the Bhagavad Gita and digest the question/answer session that took place between the Consciousness (Lord Krishna, the Paramathma) and the intellect (Arjuna the Jivathma). Scriptures such as the Bhagavad Gita suggests that the 'impure mind' prevents us from recognizing our True Nature. When the mind gets purified through Yoga Sadhana (Developing the attitude to accept life events without resistance) with Shraddha (unquestinable faith and conviction), we can see the light - just like our ability to see the sun with the disappearance of the clouds). Only with the purified mind one could have the understanding of the unity of the perceiver and perceived (Sri Steve's contention below). Sri Richard is quite right that the blurred vision of duality is created by the impure mind - impure mind is just like the dust- filled mirror. We do clean the mirror to see ourselves on the mirror and similarly we do need to clean our mind to see the SELF! with my warmest regards, Ram Chandran Note: What I have suggested is one of the many frameworks of thoughts for understanding and realizing the Self. You will hear from other learned members with more thoughtful answers to your question. advaitin , " ayamwan " <ayamwan wrote: > > Now in simple steps, how do you actually achieve self-realisation? > > Thank you. > > 1 > advaitin , Steve Stoker <otnac6 wrote: > > > The complete and total understanding that the > perceiver cannot be perceived; whatever can be > perceived cannot possibly be the same as the > perceiver. > advaitin , " Richard " <richarkar wrote: > > You are already what you are. Guest guest
Dear You-are-not-two: Now in simple steps, how do you actually achieve self-realisation? " you " can't, because only YOU can make that happen. pranams to ALL, Mouna
