Guest guest
There is a reference to the authorship of Mahavakyaratnavali in the Preface to Vicharasagara. The compiler was Sri Ramachandra Sarasvati Svamin, paramaguru of Sri Vasudeva Brahmendra Sarasvati Svamin. Sri Vasudeva Brahmendra translated into Sanskrit the original Hindi work Vicharasagara of Sadhu Nishchaladas, and added his own bibliographic notations. Regards, Sunder Dear Shri Sunder, Thanks for the above information. Actually, I have a printed book of mahAvAkyaratnAvaliH published very recently by a person in Chennai in which it is said that these statements were collected by Srimad Paramahamsa Ramachandra Yati, disciple of Paramahamsa Vasudevendra Sarasvati. I have also a copy of Vichara sagara, the Skt translation of Nischala Dasa's work in Hindi . It is in very easily understandable Sanskrit. As you have stated, in this book it is said that the mahAvakyaratnAvali was collected by Ramachanfdra Sarasvati the paramaguru of Swami Vasudevendra. From this it appears that the Guru of Ramachandra Sarasvati was another Vasudevendra Sarasvati. S.N.Sastri

Can you kindly see the sentences in the following quotes from my father's work: " My revered Guru was Vasudevananda, the disciple of Shri Krishnananda. And this Paramaguuru of mine who was himself the disciple of Ramachandrendra of the Upanishadbrahmendra Mutt, attained Siddhi in Ganapati Agraharam. " " Also it is said at the end of the 1008 mahAvAkAyaratnAvali that the author prostrates to the Guru named Vasudevendra " I would like these to be sorted out if possible. Probably there is no contradiction. The relevant Sanskrit originals can be found on the page http://www.geocities.com/kvforp/Brahmapage3.html PraNAms to all advaitins. profvk

Pranams Prof VK-ji, Combining the information collected by the three of us, the following is one possibility: vAsudevendra ----> shrIRamachandra ----> shrIkRRiShNananda ----> vAsudevAnanda = ? vAsudevendra = ? vAsudeva brahmendra Regards, Sunder
