Namaste Sri rachMiel:

First, welcome to the list and thanks for raising an interesting

question relating Vedanta and JK. Let me share my thoughts on this

important topic. I am of the opinion that the works and his well

known statements of JK could be quite misleading for a novice seeker

with no exposure to any spiritual literature. His statements could

be more meaningful for a seeker with a good background in Vedanta.

Those who have clearer understanding of Vedanta will be able to

appreciate the deep meanings behind his random (apparent) sequence of

statements. He often jumps from one topic to another in lightening

speed and consequently the reader needs to be very cautious in making

any conclusions. His central theme may appear to overemphasize anti-

traditions, cultures and conditioning of mind. If we understand

his `Emphasis,' it should also imply that the reader should not be

carried over by everything that he postulates. The reader who

blindly accepts his teachings will be inevitably conditioning his

mind – which is a contradiction.

Vedantic teaching of detachment emphasizes that too much attachment

to the teachings and lessons of Vedanta can become a barrier to one's

liberation. Vedantic teachers often emphasize that those who want to

cross the barriers for liberation should be willing forego Vedantic

just like the pole-vaulter foregoing the pole that he/she used to

jump over the fence.

I suggest the following link for further discussions on this topic

and the poster is none other than Sadaji. There are also additional

postings following his posting by several others.:
