Dear members,

I'm traslating the book " Day by Day with Bhagavan " , from the diary

of A. Devaraja Mudialar, (Four reprint) in Italian language.

It is a recollection of the last 4 years of the life of Sri Ramana

Maharshi.

At page 37, the 21 November 1945, is written: " Bhagavan also quoted

from the Vedanta Chudamani... "

According your knowledge, this book is

a) Vivekacudamani by Shankara

b) Vedacudamani (Vadasamgraha) by Yasovijaya

c) Vedacudamani (Vadasamgraha) by Krsnamitra Acarya

d) Other

Thanks for any help you'll provide.

All the best to all of you

Dear Friend,

At the request of one Gambhiram Seshayya, Bhagavan Ramana wrote the

Vivekachudamani of Adi Sankara in Tamil prose. This was later

translated into English by Arthur Osborne and is included in 'Complete

Works of Ramana " edited by Osborne. Some historical info on this work

is also written by Osborne in his book: " The Mind of Ramana Maharshi "

by Osborne.

There are several translations of Vivekachudamani by different

authors including Swami Turiyananda, Swami Madhavananda of RK MIssion,

Chinmayananda, the classical one by Chandrasekhara Bharati of

Shringeri Mutt [pub by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan] and so on.

To Advaitins: Thanks for quotation. It helps.

To N K Srinivasan: Thanks for your information.

To Frank Maiello: In the pdf version it is at page 44 (see down), and

21 November 1945 starts at page 40 and ends at page 45. The original

english book is published by V.S. Ramanan, President Board of

Trustees Sri Ramanasramam, Tiruvannamalai, 1995. Fourth reprint.

(First Cimbined Reprint on 1968). In this book (It was bought in

Ramanasram in summer 2000), the frase is at page 37. I'm working from

English to Italian. I'm in correction of the italian version

(confronting with the english).

Thanks to all of you, for your time and your help.

All the best for all of you

" In this connection Bhagavan also said, “A man says ‘I

came from Madras’. But in reality ‘he’ did not come. The

jutka or some other vehicle brought him from his house to the

railway station, the train brought him to Tiruvannamalai

railway station, and from there some other cart brought him

here. But he says ‘I came’. This is how we identify ourselves

with the acts of the body and the senses.” Bhagavan also quoted

from the Vedanta Chudamani to the effect that the activities

of the jnani are all samadhi, i.e. he is always in his real state,

whatever his body may happen to be doing. Bhagavan also

referred to Rajeswarananda and said that once he planned to

take a big party of pilgrims with Bhagavan in their midst.

Bhagavan said, “I did not consent to go and the thing had to

be dropped. What is there I could go and see? I see nothing.

What is the use of my going anywhere?” (“To^ojRo^p Iussm

u`RÅ .ÄÅòp~”) This is one of those self-revealing statements,

which sometimes escape Bhagavan’s lips. "
