Guest guest
The last two words of the following verse—vasudhaiva kuTumbakam—are well known. The whole verse is given below: ayam nijaH paro ve'ti gaNanA laghucetasAm| udAracaritAnAm tu vasudhaiva kuTumbakam || ayam nijaH- This (person) is mine, ayam paraH- This one is different (not mine). iti gaNana- such a thought, laghucetasAm- belongs to the narrow-minded, tu- but, udAracaritAnAm- for those of noble conduct, vasudhA eva- the whole earth itself, kuTumbakam- is one family. vasu means wealth. vasudhA means 'that which bears wealth', i.e., the earth. The distinction " This person is mine, and this one is not " is made only by the narrow-minded. For those of noble conduct the whole world is one family.
