We all realize that the life of each one of us is running out day by day. With each throb of our heart, everyone of us is leaping toward his or her individual grave. Our youthful beauty and intelligence, vivacity and dynamism, strength and capacities run out quickly. The time lost is lost forever; the days gone by are never again to come. Time is the very essence of Death which swallows and consumes everything in the world of change. Prosperity and wealth, like ripples in the water, are momentary and impermanent. And ending in life itself is as fleeting as lightning – a sudden flash. What can a person hold on to as a permanent raft to keep him afloat and safe? Lord Jagadisvara alone is the sole Essence which is permanent and totally dependable. To know this is one thing; to live this knowledge in life is yet another. Beloved Lord! Blessed Jagadisvara! Whatever faults I may have committed in my past, forgive them all. Make me leave everything else and hold on to You as my sole shelter, my only raft in the open sea of life's contentions. Bless me for this steady vision and deep devotion, O All Merciful One! To be continued.. Pranams, Vanaja Ravi Nair.
