I had a problem in removing some of the & nbsp;previous text in this rich format. ---------------------- & nbsp; Bhagavan Ramana ultimately says the heart is the very core of the individual self - hence meditation on the heart is not meditation on the physical organ. & nbsp; Heart of the individual is the very core of one's personality - and that is nothing but 'I am' - which is nothing but existence-consciousness which has to be advaitam and & nbsp;that is the bottom line for all Biodata. Krishna says I reside in everyone's heart - which is the same as I pervade this entire universe in an unmanifested form since any manifestations is crystallization of form with a name, or crystallization of ego. & nbsp; This is also what Jesus implies in 'I am' is the way- although that statement is badly misinterpreted. & nbsp;Hence Bhagavan Ramana says - when & nbsp; the & nbsp;false & nbsp;'I am' & nbsp; falls & nbsp;or ego drops - the real 'I am' raises spontaneously in the heart of an individual or the core of the Individual that I am is paramam and puurNam and sat swaruupam. ahami naShabaagyaham aham tayaa sphurati hRit swayam parama puuraNa sat|| says in Upadesa saara. Guest guest
Suprabhatam to all! Swami Chinmayananda in his commentary on Gita says that the term 'Heart' in philosophy refers to mind and not the physical heart. This is quite acceptable. But in Narayana Sukta, it says that " adhO NishtyA vitasyantE nAbhyA muparithishtati " which means Narayana stays below the neck portion and above nabhi " which is nothing but physical heart.. . Another clarification sought through this list is that in the Purusha Sukta, it says in the first shloka itself " ....Sa bhumim vishwatO vr^tvA Atya Tishtadashangulam " which is translated by some people as that Purusha stays 10 inches away . Can the learned on the list clear my doubts. Guest guest
Hari Om Vedanta keeps hammering the principle that Brahaman is Nirvikalpa, Nirguna, Nirvikara. So where comes the question of placement of heart either in the head or in the chest above the navel etc etc, which is an organ of the jiva an inert vastu. Consciousness, Existence principle is every where affirmed in the Purusha Sukta itself. [i am not very good in writing the transliteration of sanskrit in English - Anthar Bhahischa tat sarvam, vyapya Narayanasthithaha] For Saguna Brahma Vishaya Manasa Vyapara - as a definition given for meditation by Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswathi in his classes on meditation, these are all explained in the poorva bhaga of Veda as Upasanas for a vedantic student the sadhaka. Literally I am sure the student of Vedanta will not take the inert portion of the body for the purpose of discussion about the existence of the Lord as we all understand Brahman is Sarva vyaapi and because of that the body exists. Cause is Brahman and body is becuase of That!. No intention to hurt of the devotees feelings.
