Guest guest Posted June 6, 2008 Report Share Posted June 6, 2008 shloka No. 9 is given below. sthitvA sthAne saroje praNavamayamarutkumbhake sUkshmamArge shAnte svAnte pralIne prakaTitavibhave jyotirUpe parAkhye | lingajne brahmavAkye sakalatanugatam shankaram na smarAmi kshantavyo me'parAdhaH shiva shiva shiva bho shrI mahAdeva shambho ||9 saroje sthAne- In the lotus posture (padmAsana), sthitvA- sitting, sUkshmamArge- along the subtle path (the iDA and pingala nADi's), praNavamayamarut- the wind (breath) accompanied by the chanting of the praNava, Om, kumbhake- practising kumbhaka, i.e., retaining the breath within, svAnte- with my mind, shAnte- calm, pralIne- merged in, prakaTitavibhave- of manifest greatness, jyotirUpe- self-luminous, parAkhye- that known as the 'Supreme', brahmavAkye- which is denoted by the word 'brahman', lingajne- which can be known only by indicatory marks (which cannot be described by words), sakalatanugatam- who pervades all bodies, shankaram- Lord shiva, na smarAmi- I have not meditated on. shiva shiva shiva bhoH- O Lord shiva, shri mahAdeva shambho- O shambho, mahAdeva, me aparAdhaH- my transgressions, kshantavyah- deign to forgive. 9. I have not practised prANAyAma by directing my breath along the subtle nADi's and retaining it within (kumbhaka), sitting in the lotus posture. I have not calmed my mind and merged it in the supreme Being who is self-luminous and is of manifest greatness, who is indicated by the word 'brahman' , but who is beyond the reach of words as well as the mind. I have not meditated on Lord shiva who pervades all bodies. O shambho, mahAdeva, I implore you to be so kind as to forgive these transgressions committed by me.
