Guest guest
Dear Era and others, My current understanding is that vegan diet is not suitable for everyone and has to be supplemented with vitamin b12. Most Indian vegetarians include milk in their diet. Many also include eggs in their diet. Swami Yogananda and his teacher, Sri Yukteshwar advocated eggs as I recall. Many yogis and swamis do eat fish, fowl, and meat. We should also keep in mind that Sri Ramana pointedly refused to criticize anyone on the basis of their diet even when specifically invited to do so. Ahimsa or nonviolence has to be the proper attitude towards oneself as well. So we need not judge others or ourself too hard. To be natural in the moment is best. We all do the best we can. Namaste and love to all Yours in Bhagavan Harsha , " Era " <mi_nok wrote: > > > > > On these matters who may judge others? > > Anyway I eat a little fish now and then ( and in a year or few I > > propably will not > > ), but at the moment I am more troubled for having to remove ants > > from my > > summerhouse, and that cutting the grass is a must here on the west > > coast. The reason for vegetarianism should be looked at; is it about health, culture, custom or is it Daya? People don't judge the meat or fish eater but the pain and suffering that the animal has to go through to arrive on the plate---that is what they judge. Look at Karadicz who has been arrested for genocide in Bosnia. He was working as a alternate medicine doctor and a teacher of meditation, spirutality and working inner energies. So showing we are both saint and sinner and it is all an illusion in the mind....We are judging an illusion and that is delusional, but it is real whilst one is in it and Universal Daya is a necessary step. As George B Shaw, used to say 'animals are my friends and I don't eat my friends'......Cheers Tony
