" > > many thanks for your help n tracking this down if possible by the end of this week. > Dear shri Ram, The episode of the asuras snatching and running away with the pot of nectar comes in chapter 8 of skandha 8 of Srimad Bhagavatam. Bali does not come in this episode at all and there is no such statement to Vishnu by any asura. This may be in some other Bhagavata in one of the regional languages or in Devi Bhagavatam which I have not studied in detail.
