Guest guest
In the Vedanta Sara, Ajnana uphita chaitanyam (AUC) has been taken for analysis. At the samasti level, during sushupti avastha, AUC is called as Iswara At the samasti level, during swapna avastha, AUC is called as Hiranyagarbha At the samasti level, during jagrat avastha, AUC is called as Virat At the vyasti level, during sushupti avastha, AUC is called as Prajna At the vyasti level, during swapna avastha, AUC is called as Taijasa At the vyasti level, during jagrat avastha, AUC is called as Vaiswanara I have some issues about which these various terms refer to:- 1) Does Vaiswanara mean the physical body(because of the jagrat avastha) of an individual (vyasti)? 2) Does Taijasa mean the mind body(because of the swapna avastha) of an individual (vyasti)? 3) Does Prajna mean the causal body(because of the susupti avastha) of an individual (vyasti)? Supposing these to be true: All the three avastas are mutually exclusive, inasmuch as whatever be the state one is in, the other two states are false. Therefore, no one person can be in more than one state at any point of time. Therefore, when one is identified with physical body, he cannot think. Because, to think, one has to identify oneself with mind body. And of course, when one is in sushupti avasta, both physical and mental bodies cease to be. So be with the Samasti also. This drshya prapancha is the Virat. Is it possible for one portion of the Virat enter into the sushupti state whereas the other part does not? For, when one person sleeps soundly, others are wide awake. Also, here too we find mutually exclusive qualities are present at the same time on the same prapancha. Please guide me where I am making a mistake. With regards, Anupam.

I would recommed you to please read Asthavakra Gita where your questions are answered. The statement is: You are not your waking state, neither your dream state nor your deepsleep state. You are different, distinct, awarer, experiencer of these states... YOU (I) ALONE EXIST. > > I have some issues about which these various terms refer to:- > > 1) Does Vaiswanara mean the physical body(because of the jagrat > avastha) of an individual (vyasti)? Viswa is the YOU (I) who is through the BODY perceiving the Objects. That which you see must be distinct from you. So YOU ARE NOT THAT! Viswa but you are falsely IDENTIFED as Vishwa. > 2) Does Taijasa mean the mind body(because of the swapna avastha) of > an individual (vyasti)? Same case here. The YOU (I) that is identified with Mind and with ChitSakti create a wonderful world with in. Taijasa means " sva tEjasaa vishvam idam vibhaati " you are the creater of your dreamworld and you are the perceiver, feeler and thinker of it. Again you are different from it ... SO YOU ARE NOT THAT Either. > 3) Does Prajna mean the causal body(because of the susupti avastha) of > an individual (vyasti)? > YOU (I) are said to be Prajna because you have " Prakarsha Gnaana and Praayane Agnanana " you are both where you are completly knowledgeful at the same time totally ignorant. Knowing that you don not know something is also known as knowledge. But that knowledge is perceived as ignorance in the world, because there is no relation. Swamy Chinmayanandaji beautifully states that YOU always maintain a Relationless Relationship with this world. Asking your questions from the YOU (I) point of view is the right way of Advaitic Query.
