Guest guest
I have just uploaded the file ‘jnana yoga.doc’ to the folder ‘Advaita for the Novice – 2007’ (?) and also added a page at my website - http://www.advaita.org.uk/discourses/definitions/jnana_yoga.htm. I have also added part 27 of Sri Sadananda’s series on vedAnta paribhAshA – “The position of vishiShTAdvaita”. http://www.advaita.org.uk/discourses/knowledge/vishishtadvaita.htm This corresponds with the conclusion of Part 12 as originally posted to the group. As before, please let me know if you find any errors in my transcription/editing – I found this part particularly difficult! Best Wishes, Dennis

Just for clarification. SamaanaadhikaraNa is used both by advaita and vishiShTaadvaita. According to advaita the samaanaadhikaraNa comes with reference to cause and effect. Effect is nothing but cause itself in different form (and name). For vishiShTaadvaita the samaanaadhikaraNa is between the visheShaNa and visheShya - the attribute and the substantive - since the two are inseparable. However in identifying the jiiva as the attribute of the Lord in vishiShTaadvaita, samaanaadhikaraNa is only in terms of the oneness of the indwelling parabhramha (antaryamin)in jiiva, and that is the identity involved in tat tvam asi - not the identity in all respects since jiiva has organic relation with paramaatma - jiiva is just one organ of the totality. Individual qualities of the jiiva do not belong to paramaatma - therefore one has to do bhaaga tyaaga here also as the above referenced post indicates. Hari Om!
