I liked this verse recited as prayer invocation by Swami Dayanandaji at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2meOPk0ZHns & feature=related Would any one please expand the meaning of the verse. " kaTaaksha kiraNaa caaMta naman mOhaabdyayE namah anantaananda kRshNaaya jaganmangala moortayE " Last two lines are clear. The meaning I gather is: Line 1: katAAksha kiraNaa = shedding rays of compassion ????????????????????????????? (part of Line 1 + Line 2): caaMta naman mOhaabdayE namah = ? mOhaabdayE = ocean of delusion namaj = salutations But the connection is unclear. Help! ????????????????????????????? This occur as mangalacarana shloka in Advaita Makaranta text written by Sri Lakshmidhara Kavi wherein he prays to his ishta devata Lord Sri Krishna and Guru Swami Anandananda. Salutations to Lord Sri Krishna who is infinite bliss, whose form is auspicious to the whole world, and who, by a mere beam of His glance, dries up the ocean of delusion of those who surrender to Him. Pranipata Chaitanya has provided the reference and the excellent bhAShyam on this enlightening shlOka, I am perhaps guilding the lily by providing the word-for word meaning with padacchEdam for a better understanding! kaTAkSha = side glancekiraNa = ray (of light)AcAnta = sipped and ejected (past participle of the verb AcaM which signifies the ritual aspect of 'AcamanaM' (purifying the body))naman = (present participle of verb naM (prostrate)) prsotrating mohAbdhaye = (dative)(to) (moha abdhi = ocean of delution)namaH = Prostrationsananta = unending (infinite)Ananda = blisskR^iShNAya = (dative) (to) Krishnajaganma~Ngala = auspicious to the worldmUrtaye = (dative) to the Form Prostrations to Krishna who is of the Form auspicious to the world, who is the (source) of unending (infinite) bliss, and who by the beam (ray) of his side glance sips and ejects (sucks out) the ocean of delusion from the one prostrating to him.
