Guest guest
When does perception of an object occur ? 1. Is it when an image is formed in the eye ? 2. Is it when a neurological reaction occur in the brain ? 3. Is it when the object-vritti is formed in the intellect ? 4. Is it when the consciousness gets reflected in the intellect ? 5. Is it when the reflected consciousness merges with the original consciousness ? Who is the seer ? 1. Eye ? 2. Brain ? 3. Intellect ? 4. Reflected consciousness ? 5. Original Consciousness ? Am I reflected consciousness ? Do I exist when intellect is absent ? Does reflected consciousness exist when intellect is absent ? Where does the " I-am-Tom-the seer-notion " occur before realization ? Who sees this I-am-Tom-the-seer notion ? Where does the " I-am-Tom-the seer-notion " occur after realization ? Who sees the " I-am-Tom-the seer-notion " ? Regards, Raj.
Guest guest
Raj -PraNams The questions you asked are very important. These have been exhaustively discussed in the knowledge series and Dennis is editing them in website under the title - Vedantaparibhaasha, a critical analysis where how perceptual knowledge takes place is exhautively discussed. Guest guest
Namaste Raj-ji, Excellent questions which draw the attention of the list to that interesting frontierland between Epistemology and Psychology. No doubt our friend Libet will make his appearance. Sada-ji has offered his understanding, a facet of the crest jewel so to speak - and no doubt he will come in again. My question is: What does Libet prove, if anything. How does this relate to Brh.II.iv.11, particularly: " Reply: True, but the Sruti considers the organs to be of the same category as the objects, not of a different category. ....
