Guest guest Posted February 23, 2009 Report Share Posted February 23, 2009 Namaste Today on this auspicious Shivaratri day I have started the series entitled `Advaita from scratch' being the translation of Kanchi Mahaswamigal's discourses. Usually even the Tamil people who are spread all over the world are, for some reason or other, likely to find it difficult to read long Tamil passages or books, even if they are interested in the topic of discussion. For their benefit and for the benefit of the non-Tamil people, and for my own better understanding, I have started this translation. As I am going through the later portions I find it is a most valuable and authentic introduction and exposition of the advaita philsophy and practices. It is so powerful and compelling that it is changing my own attitudes towards a better spiritual life style. And I thank this list for giving me this opportunity to reform myself. May I therefore appeal to every – I emphasize, every - member on this list to draw the attention of their friends who may not be members of this list, to become members of this list and start reading this series. When the world is agog with all sorts of promotions that cater to material needs, good and bad, I think we members of the advaitin list can afford to take this much effort to spread the message of advaita so that a spirit of self-enquiry may develop more strongly and genuinely among a larger population, however small the increment may be. Please don't think I am canvassing just to enlarge the membership of the list. I am only canvassing for a larger clientele of readership of the Mahaswami's lectures, so that the world may be a better world, in terms of spiritual development, for the next generation. Thank you. I would be more than happy to send an invitation on behalf of the list if any member sends me email addresses of their friends who may be geniunely interested. When you send me their email addresses, you should write also to them that an invitation will come from the advaitin list. I will be more than happy to assist you if you want any of your friends to join the list.
