Dear all,

 

Can anyone read Devanagari? I have the Devanagari Sanskrit with

English translation and I want to check about five words. Please let

me know if you can help...

Thank you for replies. Can I please do something a bit different – could someone

please kindly tell me the transliterated Sanskrit for the words I have put in

CAPITALS below for Shankara's Brahma Sutra Bhasya?

 

For the last one I am guessing that `highest self' is `param atman'. If so, is

there any difference in meaning between param atman and Brahman?

Shri Gambhirananda's translation goes as follows: The soul is by nature the very

essence of perception itself, and hence the soul is distinct from the body.

Thus Gambhirananda takes 'upalabdhi' as ESSENCE OF PERCEPTION and 'AtmA' as

SOUL.

 

The dictionary meaning for 'upalabdhi' is: obtainment,acquisition, gain;

observation, perception, becoming aware, understanding, mind, knowledge.]

the word 'reasoning' that I am interested in, I am wondering if it is 'tarka'.

these words in capitals below?

 

By the way, is there any online transliteration of any Shankara bhasyas so that

I could find these for myself?

 

1.1.17 The Self consisting of BLISS cannot be identical with the TRANSMIGRATING

SOUL…Yet we see that in ordinary life, the SELF, which in reality is never

anything but the Self, is, owing to non-comprehension of the truth, identified

with the NON-SELF
