It only describes lot of stories which you have to believe. Kriya yoga is not much different from patanjali yoga. The rest is only to facinate the mind about things that one has to believe in. Not sure how much relavent those stories are for the sincere seeker other than longing to experience the same and in the very longing one can miss the boat also. Just my 2c. Hari Om! Guest guest
Not sure how much relavent those stories are for the sincere seeker other than longing to experience the same and in the very longing one can miss the boat also. praNAms Hare krishna Though for the advanced seekers these fascinating stories is not much of interest...The tyros in the AdhyAtmika mArga normally interested to hear / read this type of supernatural stories...When they read that paramahaMsa yOgAnanda's body was intact without undergoing decomposition even after 7 days of his death that too without any preservatives, it sounds amazing & naturally they are very eager to listen what he offers as teaching...It is nothing but our natural tendency to look at something unnatural in these type of personalities..I heard that mAta amrutAnandamayi mAtAji hugs everyone with mAtru vAtsalya, and sucks the puss of the leprosy patient to cure the disease, changes her body's colour when she is in different devi bhAva and as we know, sri sai baaba materializes cameras, wrist watches, gold coins etc. out of thin air...people normally do see these things in amazement & naturally attracted to the teachings of these noble personalities...I dont see any abnormality in this approach...Atleast we expect a long beard or a tonsured head and ochre rob, a loin cloth or atleast a traditional backup to the swamiji-s/Acharya-s or at the worst a white simple dress :-))...dont we prabhuji :-)) If pavAda-s (miracles) are there & shown for the good cause...let it be...Ofcourse, nobody would like to listen upanishad bhAshya & vedanta vAkya jnAna from a person who stylishly wears torn jeans, t-shirts with goggles on :-)) It is a matter of fact that we are all in one way or the other prejudiced about the personalities of Acharya-s & their outward look..is it not?? Guest guest
bhaskar ji : it was hilarious to read your post, especially the garb one needs to adorn, for people to recongnise from outward appearance,as a swami ji.even today sometimes i sport a chandanam or vibhuthi or kunkuma on my forehead in usa and many have even asked me ,whats the purpose of it.just like in olden days,a priest is supposed to look in one way,so that people respect immdly just by looking.our swamis wear ochre color becoz 'saffron' is supposed to signify renounciation of material pleasures....i think any color or any garb is fine,as long the inside is sathvic in nature...but i do accept, outward visual projection as well as inward visual projection in a satvic manner,is preferable in spirituality. i am reading this book for the first time, and i am fascinated by Lahiri Mahasaya too,not that i have not experianced identical situations with other swamijis.na ma si va ya. suresh. advaitin , Bhaskar YR <bhaskar.yr wrote: > > > Not sure how much relavent those stories are for the sincere seeker other > than longing to experience the same and in the very longing one can miss > the boat also. > > > praNAms > > > Hare krishna > > > Though for the advanced seekers these fascinating stories is not much of > interest...The tyros in the AdhyAtmika mArga normally interested to hear / > read this type of supernatural stories...When they read that paramahaMsa > yOgAnanda's body was intact without undergoing decomposition even after 7 > days of his death that too without any preservatives, it sounds amazing & > naturally they are very eager to listen what he offers as teaching...It is > nothing but our natural tendency to look at something unnatural in these > type of personalities..I heard that mAta amrutAnandamayi mAtAji hugs > everyone with mAtru vAtsalya, and sucks the puss of the leprosy patient to > cure the disease, changes her body's colour when she is in different devi > bhAva and as we know, sri sai baaba materializes cameras, wrist watches, > gold coins etc. out of thin air...people normally do see these things in > amazement & naturally attracted to the teachings of these noble > personalities...I dont see any abnormality in this approach...Atleast we > expect a long beard or a tonsured head and ochre rob, a loin cloth or > atleast a traditional backup to the swamiji-s/Acharya-s or at the worst a > white simple dress :-))...dont we prabhuji :-)) If pavAda-s (miracles) are > there & shown for the good cause...let it be...Ofcourse, nobody would like > to listen upanishad bhAshya & vedanta vAkya jnAna from a person who > stylishly wears torn jeans, t-shirts with goggles on :-)) It is a matter > of fact that we are all in one way or the other prejudiced about the > personalities of Acharya-s & their outward look..is it not?? > > > Hari Hari Hari Bol!!! > > > bhaskar > >
