Guest guest
> Those who know do not speak; > Those who speak do not know There are many sayings that seem to be profound on the face of it, but may be totally misdirected if understood without any context. All of our rishis, acharyas and sages spoke eloquently in debates and preachings. This saying would classify all our greats as those who do not know. In fact, if would be contrary to dharma, if the wise didn't speak. Best regards, Ramachandra
Guest guest
Ramachandraji - PraNAms Thanks for your input. You are right. Krishna discusses this in terms of what to speak and how to speak also. Prof. VK pointed out this earlier and gave a reference to his article. Hari Om! Sadananda --- On Mon, 3/9/09, K.B.S. Guest guest
Yes indeed the wise ought to speak and the seeker needs to listen. But what the saying meant here is that the Truth cannot be taught in words and hence cannot be described or spoken in any particular langauge. Even Sri Ramana Maharishi's most power teaching was through " Silence ". Lord Budhha taught many things , spoke on dharma and karma but when one disciple asked him " What is the Truth " ; he remained Silent.
