Guest guest
Namaste, all members, The subject “Even Consciousness is not the Final Reality†is a very interesting statement that requires pondering into. “Even Consciousness is not the Final Reality†is itself a piece of Knowledge and there cannot be any knowledge without a conscious entity behind it or without consciousness itself is there behind, prAg bhAva, it. One cannot say "something is Final" because how can he sure that there is nothing or somethng before that "something Final"! Either consciousness can precede knowledge as without consciousness being there, there cannot be any knowledge, or knowledge can precede consciousness, but there cannot be any knowledge without consciousness being there. In short, one cannot be there without the other, and if that be the case both must be one and the same. So, undoubtedly the Final Reality is Both Consciousness and Knowledge, and both are one and the same. There cannot be any other Final Reality, without Consciousness and Knowledge being there. There is no “prAg abhAva†of gnAnam, i.e. there is no prior absence of Knowledge and Knowledge/Consciousness precedes everything . The Sruti says “Satyam GnAnam Anantam Brahma†i.e. Brahman is “Existence Knowledge Infinite†or “Infinite Existence and Infinite Knowledge†or as in another Sruti Vakya “Sat Chit Anandam†and in this vakya “gnAnam†is replaced by “Chit†as both gnAnam and Chit are one and the same, and since it is Infinite, (i.e. poornam or complete as infinite is one without the second) it is Anandam or Happiness itself as the “other†is not there to disturb it. Let us remember the four MahAvAkyaAs: “Ayam Atma Brahma†this Atma is Brahman “PragnAnam Brahma†Brahman is both Consciousness and Knowledge “Tat twam asi†You are That “Aham brahmAsmi†I am Brahman, i.e. I am GnAnam and Knowledge, alone and gnAnam is also Chit (or Consciousness) as both are one and the same, and that too Infinite or Poornam. So, the Final Reality is "I" or Aham itself or Brahman, but both are the same as explained in the MahAvAkyAs. I hope the learned members can kindly correct my analysis of the subject. Guest guest
Dear Mani-ji, Of course, all that you say is correct. The point is, however, that all of this is vyAvahArika knowledge, even though it is according to shruti. Knowledge, in our usually understood sense of the word could have no meaning in a pAramArthika sense. Similarly, consciousness – brahman has neither parts nor attributes; neither name nor form. This was my point in answer to the original questioner.
