Sri Ramanavami celebrations began with devotional fervour on 27th March this

year on Ugadi day. These Vasantanavaratri celebrations will culminate on Sri

Ramanavami day with Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam. Sri Rama is favourite God to

Telugus. All the Telugu households participate in them. The programmes include

Pooja,Bhajans, Music concerts,Discourses on Ramayanam,Manthraja pa and other

rituals. Hindus not only in India but also all over the world, would participate

in this important religious festival. Millions of Hindus are living in different

parts of the world - in Bali,West Indies,Fiji, U.S.A,Africa and every nook and

corner of the world.

Ramayana and Mahabharata are considered as the fifth Veda. Teachings and ideals

contained in the four Vedas , 108 Upanishads,Bhagavad Gita and Brahma sutras are

illustrated in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Western scholars have admired these

poems as the most profound poems ever composed by man. We are indebted to

Valmiki and Vyasa for their contribution to India's 10,000 year-old culture and

values.

Ramayana unites Hindus. Rama is worshipped as an Uttama Purusha, the perfect

one. Sri Rama is worshipped as an incarnation. He took birth as a human being

and lived as per the ideals of Hindu Dharma. He is a model for all mankind. Every

character in Ramayana is adorable. Rama is also known as Seethapati, that is

Seetha's husband, thus showing the divinity of women in the Indian value system.

India's unity and culture have been sustained for thousands of years largely due

to the universal impact of Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Reading the epic at least once a year confers enormous benefits to the

individual. It provides guidance to mankind across time and space - kala and

desha.

Every village, every street ,every temple and every Telugu heart and all cities

in India and the Telugus abroad would organise celebrations for Sri Rama Navami.

People join together voluntarily to participate in the festival. Poojas,

Discourses and Music concerts bring people together.

The life of Sri Rama mirrors a real Advaitin.

I convey my Sri Rama Navami Subhakankshalu/ Greetings to all our Telugus. I

request you to listen to Sri Rama Kalyanam commentory from Bhadrachalam and

Ramakalyanam episode from Ramayana from WWW.Archive. org tomorrow
