Varaha Jayanti Greetings/Subhakankshalu to our group.

The Lord assumed many forms, known as avataras,to establish Dharma in this world.

While there are many avataras, only ten are well known.Even among these the

Varahatara is significant. Varaha is the third Avatar of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu in

the form of a Boar. He appeared in order to defeat Hiranyaksha, a demon who had

taken the earth and carried it to the bottom of what is described as the cosmic

ocean.

Lord Sri Maha Vishnu assumed the role of a boar to retrieve the Vedas and to

save the world by bringing out the earth from under the ocean using it's tusks.

It then killed the Hiranyaksha and retrieved the Vedas from the rakshasa and

brought it back to the safe custody of Lord Brahma. That day is celebrated as

VARAHA JAYANTHI.

VARAHA JAYANTI : MYSTIC SYMBOLISM -- Brahma represents the purified mind

that glows with the knowledge that you are Advaitic Brahman, you are one with God

and not a limited personality. Brahma's falling asleep implies coming under the

influence of Avidya, ignorance represented by Hiranyaksha. That demon has stolen

the knowledge possessed by the pure mind and it must be recovered. For this

awareness, devotees shall visit Varahaswamy in Tirupati before the darshan of

Sri Venkateswara even today.

The Varahaavatara or the Boar or Pig is worshipped by the Greeks, and in Egypt. In

Chinese legend, the pig represents the unbridled power of nature. For the native

Americans, the pig is a rain bearer. In Hinduism, we have the Adamantine sow ,

Vajravaraha, Queen of heaven as the feminine counterpart of Vishnu's boar

Incarnation . She also appears in Tibetan Buddhism.

The Varaha represents a mighty spiritual force that manifests in the unconscious

mind of an evolving aspirant.

With Varahajayanti(22-4-09) Greetings, I request you to listen to the

Varahatarakadhanam and Hiranyakshavadha episodes from Srimannarayaneeyam in

Telugu.
