My salutations to Lord Narasimha and Narasimha Jayanti Subhakankshalu and

greetings to our Advaitin group. We celebrate Narasimha Jayanti this year on May

8th , the Chaturdasi day included with Pournima.

In His various avataras ,Bhagavan Vishnu manifested in different forms to

destroy evil and protect dharma. Each of the manifestations had a very special

significance. His fourth manifestation as Lord Narasimha had a unique purpose -

the Supreme Lord's concern to honour the word of a devotee.

One day demon king Hiranyakasipu and his son Prahlada had a heated argument.

Hiranyakasiu asked, " Where is your Vishnu? " Pedrahlada replied, " He is present in

a piller or in a particle of dust. " The moment Prahlada made the commitment,

Lord Vishnu manifestly entered every atom of the universe. Every place became a

garbha gruha of the Lord. When Hiranyakasipu kicked the piller, Lord Vishnu

emerged as Narasimha.

His Holiness Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswami says: " If one takes Lord Narasimha as

his guru and worships him with devotion, ignorance will be destroyed and wisdom

will dawn on him. "

We celebrate Nrusimha Jayanti festival with devotion by listening to Sri

Lakshminrusimha Karavalamba stotram of Adi Sankara and Nrusimhavataravarnanam

from Srimannarayaneeyam.
