Pranaam Gurujans,

What would be the correct interpretation ?

Brahman & Maya = Duality

or

Brahman & Jiva atman = Duality

Who is the Sakshi of Maya ? Brahman or Jiva atman ?

Thank you.

Yuvaraj - PraNAms

The correct interpretation is

Brahman alone is there and it is THE REALITY. From Brahman point there is

nothing other than Braham. No mayaa either. No creation either.

Mayaa comes only when one sees other than himself and that other than himself is

the creation - Thus maayaa comes as the creative power for the one who is seeing

the creation separate from him. Maayaa is that which is not there but appears to

be there.

Hence duality starts with Jiiva + jagat

Or with jiiva + jagat + Iswara

Brahman is substantive all the two or all the three. One appearing as two or

three is the mayaa-shakti. Since there is nothing other than Brahman we call

Iswara + maayaa shakti - substantive of both Brahman only

Jiiva + avidya - substantive of both is Brahman only

Jiiva + jagat - substantive both are Brahman only

Jiiva + Jagat + Iswara - the substantive all the three only Brahman only.

Hence you cannot add anything to Brahman since Brahman is infinite and you

cannot have infinite + some finite. Mathematically illogical.

Hope this helps

Hari Om!

yuvaraji,

though sadanandaji has answered the question well, for a better

understanding of the concept of maya I would suggest you to read Swami

Vivekananda's lecture, " Maya and Illusion " which can be found in Selections From

Complete Works Of Swami Vivekananda.

REGARDS,

VAIBHAV.
