Guest guest
Namastey. I am a small man before you all learned. What dharma says is " Based on the Desha, kala, sthiti the action by any individual is to be taken and that action which doesn't do a harm to any one and is correct dharma " ...something like this. As per my knowledge ..What vedas say is " janmanaa shudro jayatey.. karmaneyva brahmanaha bhavati' By birth we are all shudras... we take birth in a given surroundings based on our past karma... Please do not think that you are not qualified as brahmana....If we are doing the right dharma and doing the swadhyaya...(i.e following basic actions..sandhya vandanam..deyvataa archanaa... these need not be truly always in ritual forms...even maukhika is accepted.) teaching/guiding the children and people towards the barhma jnana....doing our duties well (We can get the correct answer for this point from mahabharata in the story of dharmavyadha) then we are brahmins... we need not be doing puja in temple/home etc.. also... manuscript is to be take in right gist and we should never forget the definition of dharma... You qualify as brahmin based on the purity in your thoughts and the selfless actions and duties that you perform. My few small thoughts.. I am sorry if I have hurt anyone's feelings.. This is my first posting... AT THE SAME TIME, I DO VALUE MY BIRTH IN A BRAHMIN FAMILY, AS IT HAS DEFINITELY HELPED ME TO DEVELOP " GIGNASA " . WITH KIND REGARDS, R. S. Nice discussions on the Bhagawad Gita and other spiritual topics is interwoven into the storyline in a very interesting manner - a treat to watch. > Hari Om > Shri Gurubhyoh namah > Shyam Namaste. In the past also there have been very learned Brahmins who held liberal views. One outstanding example is Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni about whom his great-grandson Sriram-ji had written in this List. Manu Smriti II.168 says-- " The Brahmana who without having studied the Veda in the proper way, labours after other things, falls, even in his present life, to the condition of a Sudra, together with his descendants " . I wonder how many of us qualify as Brahmins by this test. I certainly do not. Best wishes, S.N.sastri Cricket on your mind? Visit the ultimate cricket website. Enter http://cricket.
