Guest guest
Dear all, I'm from Israel, and unfortunately there is a lack of Advaita resources here. I'm travelling soon to NY and California, and will be mostly around San Fran area. Can you recommend of interesting Advaita places/satsangs? or maybe of an inspiring place where I can deepen the Self Inquiry process? Guest guest
Check out the Chinmaya Mission at San Jose and the Vedanta Society of Northern California. The latter has a Retreat in Olema which you may find useful. Near New York you may wish to take some time to drive up to the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam where Advaita is taught in a very traditional setting - certainly one of the very few centers in the West. Best wishes and pranams Hari OM Shyam --- On Fri, 7/17/09, venkata ramana sarma podury <rpodury wrote: venkata ramana sarma podury <rpodury Re: Advaita resources in California and NY advaitin Friday, July 17, 2009, 2:54 AM Here is one place in california. Dear Seeker of the Self, Namaste If you are interested in Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi, there is a group of devotees in the San Francisco area. They meet regularly (weekly) and the activities gravitate mainly around chanting and discussing Bhagavan's Teachings. Some of the people are mature devotees of Bhagavan. The contact phone to reach them is: Sunita and Kartik: (510)-656-2752 In New York there is the Aunachala Ashrama that provides many activities as well, contact is: (718)-560-3196 If you are in the Bay Area between the 13 and 16th of August, or in New York between the 22nd and 23rd of august, I would highly recomend you attend Swami Anubhavananda's talks. Another former disciple of Swami Chinmayananda with an enormous amount of vedantic knowledge and the simplicity of a jnani. His website is: http://www.behappyinc.org You have the rest of his itinerary there. On another note there is an individual advaitic teacher by the name Jorge Luis Jauregui that teaches Vedanta in Oakland. He is a former disciple of Swami Chinmayananda and been teaching Vedanta for many years. You may see some of his videos in YouTube. His email is: jorgeluisjauregui On the " Advaita as taught in the West " kind of thing, a person called John Wheeler held satsangs in the Bay Area regularly. His website is: http://thenaturalstate.org/ Good luck in your search. Yours in Bhagavan, Mouna " The Ordainer controls the fate of souls in accordance with their prarabdhakarma. Whatever is destined not to happen will not happen, try as you may. Whatever is destined to happen will happen, do what you may to prevent it. This is certain. The best course, therefore, is to remain silent. " Ramana Maharshi
