Guest guest
Aw, Harsha, that is the most wonderful story! Thank you for writing it down! I recently read that Swami Vivekananda said that all of life is 'detail work', or perhaps it was that the spiritual life is all 'detail work'. I keep thinking of that. In your story, the Holy Mother's careful attention to the moment, and to you, reminds me of this--the importance of paying attention to, bringing loving awareness to, the needs of others in the smallest details, which as you say seem minor at the time but one never forgets. Guest guest
Nice story Harsha. I was born in Cuba, my parents were Polish Jewish immigrants. I was told that I was the smartest kid in school when I sat still which was seldom. Finally I was sent to “Jesus, Maria y Jose’ a very strict Catholic school. Maybe the nun’s were sweet and friendly but not with me. I was often made to stand in the courtyard, Finally one evening I decided that I would be a ‘good boy’ after all. My grades shot up, and eventually so did my weight. When I was 11 we emigrated to the US and wound up in Portland, Maine where a lot of the family already were. Guest guest
Dear Harsha, It is a very lovely story. When I remember my time with the nuns in the boarding-school I have not always so nice remembrances. We also used to play all kinds of pranks to them. Once a friend and I put ink into the holy water in the expectation, that a certain nun, who always took holy water by entering a room would have a blue point on her forehead. Then it turned out that the nun for which it was meant, did not really dip her finger into the water! The blue point did not appear! We also used to smoke in the toilet to anger another nun. In later years I came to know many nuns and munks which have been very kind though. I had many contacts with monasteries, which I like to remember. A reminiscence coming up which may not add much re Ramana Maharshi, though I imagine he would especially have fun with the ink in the holy water out of a certain reason. Guest guest
Dear Harsha, I will never drink water from a bubbler without this story coming to mind, and feeling the blissful presence of a fully quenched Christ Consciousness.
