Dear Ramakrishna,

This is presented for academic interest and extreme care should be exercised

during the anushtana. Without satguru hailing from sadAchAra & satsampradaya,

one should not take up this upasana.

Profile of Siva Panchadasi Mantra

Like panchadasakshari mantra of srividya in sakti cult, there is a

panchadasakshari vidya having 15 bija mantras related to shiva. There is also a

mode of upasana bhavana where srichakra is worshipped as sthula rupa of lord

shiva by visualising this panchadasakshari mantra along the srichakra. Among the

15 bija prastara of this kuta traya of this siva panchadasakshari,

" Srim " bija becomes the kanta (neck) sthana of Siva when visualised in Siva

Yantra.

And hence, the name " Srikanta " which means " the siva who has Sri Bija as his

Kanta(neck) " . This form of vidya was worshipped by our ancient grammarian

Vararuchi. Externally, though the

" Srikanta " imply " the one who holds poison in the neck " as Sri means poison " but

the rahasya artha has a different meaning. During the mantra prastara of Siva

mantra, the bija " Srim " becomes the kanta sthana (neck) in the Siva Panchadasi

Meru Prastara Yantra and hence the meaning goes as the one whose neck forms the

SRIM Bija. This secret vidya with mantra is coded in " shiva Mahimnah Stotra " of

Pushpadantacharya.

The Siva Panchadasi Mantra goes like this.

" Om rum om dram om drim om klim om bloom om sah om srim om "

If we make a 3D figure of this mantra in the form of Meru, the SRIM bija form

the neck portion of the yantra.

The meru prastara of this mantra along the srichakra goes like this.

OM

SRIM OM

BLOOM OM SAH

OM KLEEM OM DREEM

OM RUM OM DRAM OM

One can visualize the SRIM bija as kanta (neck) portion of siva in the yantra.

Decoding of Siva Mantra from Siva Mahimnah Stavah

Sloka No. 10: " Tavaisvaryam……. "

The word " Analaskandha " means the pillar of fire which denotes Agni and is

represented as `R (repha)' ie., Bija of Agni. Brahma in the form of Hamsa goes

to search the beginning of the pillar of fire.

From this " Ha " is derived. Place " Ha " before " R " . Hari in the form of varaha

goes the search the beginning of pillar. Varaha is the sandhi of " Vara + Ahan " .

Vara denotes the Iccha Sakti and Ahan denotes Luminence. Hence Vara+Ahan denotes

Iccha Bhava Prakasa. Iccha is denoted by letter " E " . This is Kama Kala.

Place this letter E after R. This becomes `RE'. Put " Ach " pratyaya to this and

it becomes " RU'. Ha and E are the bijas of Brahma and Hari are having low

profiles as they could not see the beginning and end of Agni. In the Bija " RU " ,

R is emphasized as Agni in the form of Siva.

In this sloka, " RU " is decoded.

Sloka No. 11: Ayatna……

There are 2 bija uddharaas. In the word " Dasasya " take the first consonant " D "

and the first consonant " R' in " Ranakandu " . " DR " is formed. From " Hey

Tripurahara, Idam Sthiraya…, A is derived and from previous bija " RU', E is

derived which is hidden. " Vishfoorjitam Idam… denotes that Agni Bija " R " has to

be combined once with " A " and " E " . The bija becomes " Dram " " Dreem " . The word

" Tribhuvana " denotes three bhuvanas " A " , " U " , " M " . ie., OM.

The mantra becomes so far " RUM OM DRAM OM DREEM "

Sloka No. 12 : Amushya….

From the word " Kailasa " , take 2 consonants " K and " L " and the vowel " E " . This

becomes " KLEEM " . The word " Patala " denotes again 3 lokas ie., A U M. The mantra

becomes:

RUM OM DRAM OM DREEM OM KLEEM

Sloka No. 13: Yad ruddhim…

From the word " Bana " , take the first consonant " B " . Banasura putting to shade

the wealth of Indra. Indra bija is " L. Add Ach pratyaya to it, it becomes `LOO'.

Suffix this with `B'. It becomes `BLOOM'.

The word " Parijana Vidhaya Tribhuvanah " denotes that this BLOOM bija is flanked

by pranava on either side ie., OM BLOOM OM.

The mantra becomes:

RUM OM DRAM OM DREEM OM KLEEM OM BLOOM OM

Sloka No. 14: Akanda Brahmanda….

The word " Visham Samhrutavatah " denotes that we have to pick the consonant that

comes after `SHA " ie., `SA'. The next word is " Sa Kalmashah' denotes that " SA "

has to be prefixed with " poorna anuswara " ie., ah. The bija becomes " SAH " . From

the word " Sriyam " , `Sri' is derived which is the kantha (neck) sthana of siva.

The word " Bhuvana Bhanga " says that don't forget to put pranava ie., OM in

between. The mantra becomes SAH OM SRIM.

The mantra becomes:

RUM OM DRAM OM DREEM OM KLEEM OM BLOOM OM SAH OM SRIM

The forth paada " Vikaropi Bhuvana Bhaya Bhanga " denotes that we have to pick 3

`B's ie., Tribuvana again which is AUM. In word `Vikara' is divided as `V +

Ekara'. V is mangala vachaka and E is symbol of 2 in Panini Sutra. Hence, mantra

should end with mangala vachaka twice. The above mantra should be prefixed and

suffixed with OM.

Hence, " OM RUM OM DRAM OM DREEM OM KLEEM OM BLOOM OM SAH OM SREEM OM "

This is the mantra of siva where he has to be worshipped as Agni tattva in

Sriyantra. This mantra is vidya pradayini. By worshipping vidya panini wrote

mahabhashya of vykarana. Panini in his maheswara sutras, has explained the

efficacy of this mantra. Even vararuchi also, who was the grammarian in the

court of Kind Bhoja of Ujjain along with kavi Kalidasa.

A voice of caution:

This mantra has been presented as academic interest. Please donot take this

mantra as granted and start the japa. Proper initiation by a satguru from a good

sadachara srividya parampara is required.

Salutations to my guru shri Anjaneya Sastry
