Guest guest
Dear Advaitins PraNams. The beautiful new image on our Groups Homepage has brought up a thought that was originally triggered by the statement of Sri Baba Ramdev.. Ramdev Ji was quoted as saying with regards to the practice of Yoga for Muslims that they can substiture Allah instead of OM but Yoga is for every one... Unless Ramdev Ji meant that it is benefitial to do Yoga even if one does not chant OM, the statement hints that the primordial vibration OM is nothing but a symbol.. I have a decent understanding of the symbolic meanings of OM.. I understand that it symbolizes the three states of existence, followed by silent.. I also understand that each syllable vibrates different part of the body starting from stomach.. The question is - is OM (or AUM) just a symbol of the ultimate or the ultimate itself - if it is as the scriptures say " AUM is It " , then one can't and shouldn't substitute it with any thing else... AUM can't be a symbol alone.. Is it a primordial signature that reveals the ulimate truth if one reflects enough. Is it a ultimate formula that contains all the universal constants, all the universal laws. Is it a cosmic frquency that in range of audible sound, resembles AUM.. These answer are important for me and will be very useful in my discussion with my highschool son who started questioning me seriously about the nature of Sanathana Dharma Thank you very much Sudhesh Pillutla

Guest guest
http://www.cincinnatitemple.com/articles/HinduDharma.pdf HH ' divine explanation is given on page 282 . Chapter 7 verse 8 of Bhagavad Gita has to be known for reference when your son starts to be aware as he learns. When a vichara comes verses from Prastanaya Traya (Bhrama Sutra,Upanishads or Divine Bhagavad Gita ) as unfolded by a bhramanista guru will be the source of unfolding the teachings . Every vichara is nothing but ishwara anughraham with that best wishes in explaining to your son. Reminds me of the verse in divine Gita verses 40 onwards chapter 6 where SRIKRISHNA tells about how each and every body who enquires.
