Guest guest
Namaste. The last shloka in the Ananda sagara stava of Sri Nilakantha Dikshitar is: chaturadhyaayiiruupaM kalahamsavya~njana~M jaganmaatuH . aparabrahmamayaM vapurantaH shashikhaNDamaNDanamupaase .. 108 .. // I meditate on the Mother of the universe in the form of the treatise with four chapters (Brahmasutra), who displays the Kalahamsa, who is Apara Brahman itself and who is adorned with the crescent moon.// Note : The moon is the symbol of Jnana and the Kalahamsa is the symbol of Vairagya (detachment). [The translation is by Sri P.S.Krishnan and Sri S.N.Sastri. The book is available in Jayalakshmi Indological, Mylapore, Chennai.] The complete text, transliterated, is found here: http://www.indiadivine.org/audarya/shakti-sadhana/93050-anandasagara-stava.html A note on the above: The devotee wishes to view the Brahma Sutras as a manifestation of the Mother JaganmAta. She is apara Brahman (Conditioned / SaguNa Brahman). She is Veda-mayee and ShAstra-mayee. All branches of Knowledge are Her form. The symbolism underlying the Saraswati Puja is this alone. In Advaita system, it is the SaguNa Brahman, Ishwara, that bestows the Highest Liberating Knowledge, the means to attain It as well as the source of that Knowledge. [Refer to the Advaita Sadhana series of lectures by The Kanchi Maha Periyava] Thus to view that Conditioned Brahman as the Brahma sutra Book that teaches the Vidya, the sAdhana and the Phala as the very embodiment of Ishwara, in masculine or feminine form, is quite in order. 'IshwarAnugrahAdeva pumsAm advaita vaasanaa' [The propensity for Advaitic sadhana and realization is a gift from Ishwara alone.] Om Tat Sat

Moon as symbol of janana is indirect, partial, other than what is. Moon is dependent on Sun to spread light.Moon is a symbol of duality such as day and night, amavasays and pornami etc. This is the beginning of knowledge and end in itself. thank you sekhar
Guest guest
Pranams Subbuji, Just a side note on kalahamsa interpretation: My guruji completed the commentary of Anandasagar stavah upto 107 slokas and the 108th sloka was about to write but somehow his consciousnss did not accept to write it and thought-flow got obstructed. During those moments, he thought of visiting Kanchipuram and take the blessings of Kanchi Mahaswamigal who was during the chaturmasya at Kalavai. After having darshan of Kamakshi proceeded to Kalavai to have the darshan of Periaval who was his Srividya guru. As soon as Mahaswami saw the guruji, out of intuition swamigal could know the intention of the arrival of guruji. After going through the commentary, swamigal was ecstatic in mood that He gave the srimukham on behalf of Kamakoti Pitha and enquired about the 108th sloka. Guruji though with some reservations wrote the meaning on a small piece of paper and showed to Swamigal. Later on " Gayatri Suprabhatam " which was the composition of guruji was also showed to Swamigal. Mahaswamigal asked the guruji to proceed ahead with final printing. Swamigal's gracious glance on guruji throwed him in ecstatic mood and composed a Pancharatnam on Periyaval & Kamakshi. Given below is the kamakshi stuti: This Kamakshi Stotram is a small hymn composed by my gurunatha and was dedicated to his Srividya Gurunatha HH Mahaperiyaval who is non-different from Mother Kamakshi of Kanchipuram. This was on the last sutra " anAvrittih sabdAt " Words of Mahaswamigal: AvrittyA upAsitAt - sabdAt praNavarUpAt - AvartanEna kritAt - praNavOpAsanAt upAsakasya anAvrittih - punah samsAraprAptyabhAvah - mokShah siddhyati // The advice given was the constant upasana of Pranava (OM) and Sutra Bhashya Parayana. Having obtained the blessings of Mahaswami, composed the commentary of 108 th sloka and the 1st copy of the Anandasagara Stavah along with Varivasya Rahasya and Gayatri Suprabhatam was offered at the divine pair of Kanchi Mahaswamigal.
