Guest guest
Dear Learned Members, Isa Upanishad sloka # 13: anyadevaahu: sambhavaad..... vicacakshire. Meaning as per Swami Gambhiranandaji: " They spoke of a different result indeed from the worship of the Manifested, and they spoke of a different result from the worship of the Unmanifested' - thus we have heard (the teaching) of those wise men who explained that to us. " Here the results are shown as different. This is fine. But, my doubt is only when I go to the sloka # 14 (more specifically, to the introduction / avataarika of Sloka #14) In the introduction Sri Sankara writes: " yataH evam ataH, samucchayaH sambhutyasambhutyupaasanayoryukta evaikapurushaarthatvaat " Meaning as per Swami Gambhiranandaji: " Since this is so, and since both are MEANT FOR THE SAME HUMAN GOAL, it is quite proper to combine the worship of the Manifested and the Unmanifested. " (Capital letters are mine, not from the book. I used them to show where / why I get doubt there) Here, it is said " meant for the same goal " , whereas, the Sloka # 13 says, " " They spoke of a different result ..... " Kindly clarify. With regards, Anupam.
Guest guest
Dear Anupam-ji, The answer will be clear if you read the whole of the bhAShya on mantra 14. It says that by the practice of vinAsha and asambhUti one after another, one attains immortality-- this is also relative immortality as with avidyA and vidyA. Thus the goal is the same, relative immortality. Best wishes, S.N.Sastri advaitin , anupam srivatsav <anupam.srivatsav wrote: > > Dear Learned Members, > > Isa Upanishad sloka # 13: > > anyadevaahu: sambhavaad..... vicacakshire. > > Meaning as per Swami Gambhiranandaji: " They spoke of a different > result indeed from the worship of the Manifested, and they spoke of a > different result from the worship of the Unmanifested' - thus we have > heard (the teaching) of those wise men who explained that to us.
