Guest guest
Maaghamaasa Subhakankshalu to our advaitin group. When Sun enters into Makararaasi, it is called Maaghamasam. In this month, taking 'maaghasnanam'i.e.,taking bath in holy rivers at early morning before the sunrise will purify body and mind. This month is highly auspicious and the Maghamela, and Maaghasnana at Trivenisangam takes place in this month.Magha is a very special for Sun worship. Surya is the only God whom we can see. He is the 'Pranadata', life giver of the entire universe. The Vedas consider him as witness 'Sakshi Bhuta' of all events in life. Sun God is also known as Atma Kaaraka, the inductor of souls. He governs our Budddhi or wisdom, honor, fame, heart function, energy and power. Among the forms of worship classified by Adi Sankara, Sun worship is known as Sowram. Special worship and prayers are done to Sri Surya, as Sun god's grace is reflected in our intellect and soul. In this auspicious Maaghamaasa, let us listen to Maaghapuranam and Sri Surya stotras. Now I request you to listen to Sri Surya Astottarasatanama Stotram in slide show for peace and bliss. http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=goli
