Guest guest
Dear Advaitins, The analogy of the Rajju-Sarpa / Sukti-Rajata Nyaya is also to be found in the Siva Gita. Siva Gita which is similar to Bhagavat Gita is in the form of a dialogue between Lord Siva and Lord Ramachandra. The position of Arjuna is taken by Lord Rama and that of Lord Krishna's by Lord Siva. The philosophy goes almost in similar lines. Here too Lord Siva shows His Vishwarupa to Lord Rama. The 7th Chapter of Siva Gita is the Vishwarupa Sandarshana Yoga from Siva. Since, Mahasiva Ratri is approaching, I was doing the parayana of this wonderful book to which the commentary was written by Shri Sacchidananda Bharati of Sringeri. It is also said that this auspicious wisdom was imparted to Lord Rama on the auspicious day of Mahasiva Ratri during the Lingodbhava Kala. Some scholars are of the opinion that Siva Gita is even older than Bhagavat Gita. But whatever may the controversies, some slokas find the tinge of Advaita Bhava and the following sloka also gives the example of illusion of Sukti-Rajata & Rajju-Sarpa Analogy. The 25th Sloka of Vishwarupa Sandarshana Yoga from Siva Gita says: tvanmAyayA kalpitam indumouLE tvayyEva driShyatva mupaiti vishwaM bhrAntyA janaH paShyati sarva mEta Cchuktou yathA rUpya mahiM cha rajjou // ……25 O Siva ! This entire universe is projected in you as Creation. In you, finds Sustenance and finally in you gets dissolved. The projection of this Universe (Jagat) which is called Creation is the product of your inherent Maya Sakti. People out of ignorance perceive this Universe which is similar to the illusion of perceiving the Silver (cchuktou) in Oyster Pearl as well as the Snake in the Rope (rajjou). Wishing you all a blissful holy night of Lord Siva, Regs, Sriram
